For me this is the crucial moment when Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2, finds out he has TB... What about you?

“Sir, permission to leave the station?”

“For what purpose chief?”

“To give the covenant back their bomb”

That was such a stone cold ass moment for me man.

Dark Souls 3 emerging from the Catacombs of Carthus, after having sludged your way through a terrible swamp, to the snow capped mountains and scenery of the city of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.

I must have taken 30 screenshots my first time playing.

About 3 times during the arriving in Columbia sequence in Bioshock Infinite

The call-response in the clouds, first glimpse of Columbia through the porthole and the music are all just 👌

Borderlands 2, Tiny Tina dlc, "We gotta wait for Roland" and then the whole speech about "i know I KNOW"

In a joke game about dicks and explosions and guns that make fun of you, Tiny Tina handled loss in a way that was incredibly profound and deep.

The first time you see a volatile in Dying Light 1.

Prior to that I had little notion of what volatiles are, just how they look.

I didn't expect them so early on, and literally stop breathing for a sec or two when the first one screams at you from behind a door. Then the crazy chase starts, and you are underpowered, weak, easily exhausted, and a pack of volatiles on your heels. Couldn't kill a pack of weak ass biters let alone the elite hunters of infected.

That was the most adrenaline fueled event I had in a game. Turning corner on a street in pure dark with just a flashlight with Volatiles screeching on your neck and popping out of everywhere was so damn scary I actively avoided nights for pretty long in the game.

The developers sure knew how to make nights scary.

I wouldn’t say chills but one of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever experienced was, oddly enough, from RDR1. When John Marston crossed over into Mexico for the first time after that gnarly river fight. The horse is there waiting and you gallop off into the Mexican countryside and Far Away by Jose Gonzalez starts to play. It was a sublime moment. I’ve gone through fresh play throughs of that game just to have that moment again as it only happens that once.

The ending speech in amnesia a machine for pigs. You walking up those stairs while he explains the horrors humanity will face in the coming century. The innocent, the innocent, Mandus...

I remember the first playthrough of F.E.A.R when I got to the top of a ladder and that creepy kid was there.

I'm going to share a few for you

  1. Assassin's creed 1: When you see Damascus for the first time ever, from a distance upon the mountain tops. The music creeps in, and then goes full force, you pull the reins on your horse as you gallop your way down the meandering pathways, leading into this enormous bustling city, bursting with life! Simply a masterpiece moment. The first truly next gen game made of that era.

  2. Red dead redemption 2: I agree, when the tuberculosis reveal happens, and then you watch yourself slowly degrade. I can't think of a single game where you're given a diagnosis that you're going to die and then you watch yourself die. I think it speaks volumes on how life can be short and it was done in a very realistic way in terms of how fast the disease progresses.

  3. Modern warfare 2 (Xbox 360): Just being thrown into this amazing world of multiplayer and customization and freedom and kill streaks and weapon and iconic moments on YouTube that have lived on there forever, AND IT WAS ALL TOO GOOD TO BE REAL. But alas, I lived it, and so did many others, it's all that matters.

  4. Assassin's creed origins: just the entire world design gave me shivers, it was like playing assassin's creed 1 again and being lost in this beautiful rendition of Egypt, and everything had purpose.

  5. Bloodborne: The spiders.

Same game but that scene in Jim Milton rides again.

I haven't played it in a while so my memory might be hazy.

Near the beginning of Haunting Ground, Fiona comes across a statue or effigy of a pregnant woman. A voice over the intercom says "That will be you".

Not many horror games will be straight-up go "You will be forced to have my child". Very visceral and it made me shudder.

When playing The Witness and I noticed the iconic puzzle line shape kinda showing up in real life, then realizing I can click on it, and realizing there's a bunch. It was like discovering a whole new world.

Most recently, the opening to GOW Ragnarok. The moment when Freya shrieks "Kratooooos!" at the end of the chase really struck me, the emotion was palpable. I immediately knew I was in for just an absolutely incredible ride. Hats off the to cast of those games and everyone involved.

Stepping out of the cave for the first time in Breath of the Wild and looking out across the Great Plateau while the music swells.

Taking the elevator down to Rapture for the first time in Bioshock.

I’m sensing a pattern here lol

I don't think I've ever felt chills from a videogame.

Probably my most memorable emotional videogaming experience comes from Mass Effect 1, which I played near release as a teenager and again just a year ago as an adult. Same reaction both times. I can't help but swell with pride when Shepard becomes the first human Spectre.

End of mass effect 3.

Such a good trilogy and the music is perfectly named and implemented. “An end once and for all”

The intro to Homeworld 2 still gives me chills when the narrator starts talking about Makaan and that mentions many systems have fallen under his shadow. The combination of the music, voice over and visuals gets me every time. You feel the fear and oppression.

Halo 1 - first mission with the flood . Halo 2 - give the covenant back their bomb . Witcher 3 - when you first get to Ard Skellig and the fields of Ard Skellig starts. . Assassins Creed 2 - when the title plays.

Being teleported into the Dark World in Zelda: A Link to the Past.

You literally thought you had reached the end of the game and suddenly, there’s a whole new world opening up right in front of you - with a main quest twice as long as the previous one. My mind was utterly blown!
