[–] Ksiemrzyc@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

fuck off microsoft, i am already avoiding it on windows because entire microsoft store ecosytem is just pure shit

[–] Responsible-Bat-2699@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

It would be better if there was an access to Steam games on Xbox. If they could include that in Game Pass Ultimate that would be game changer. I can't always use my PC for gaming.

[–] KeepScrolling52@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

"change of strategy" I swear I remember this always being the plan

Please let this be a road to Zelda on my XBox.

I’ve got it on my iPhone and it’s kickass with backbone one

[–] mudohama@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Sony should be doing the same thing, there is nothing special about their hardware

[–] Hansoloai@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

So if Microsoft pulls out of consoles then all those Xbox players just jump to PC.

[–] Aiden15216@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Game Pass on PS5 sounds like the best of both worlds (at least for consumers).

Ah, the "grasping at our shrinking market share" strategy.

Of course they do. More subscriptions bringing the games to an even larger audience. Smart on their part.

Honestly I d rather Microsoft pulled a Sega and left the console market to focus on games and gamepads.

[–] Kahzgul@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Do you want $1000 PS6s? Because that's how you get $1000 PS6s.

Market competition is a good thing.

Yes because the console market needs less competition...

[–] zombiejeesus@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Giving Sony a monopoly on the market isn't a good thing man

Microsoft is required to keep Sony on form and keep the current console format active. People saying that there's no point Xbox being in the market because PS5 is the same but with Sony exclusives and PC has all the same games as Xbox but is better are missing the bigger picture. Without Microsoft then there is no competition for Sony. Nintendo aren't aiming for the same market.

It's no secret that Microsoft wanted Game Pass on Playstation.

Sony refused. So this discussion is literally irrelevant

Sony should really consider. PlayStation plus is not worth it at all after the price increase.

Considering PS5 is outselling Xbox 2-1 this is not surprising, im sure Starfield, Halo would sell well on PS5. I dont think Sony would allow gamepass on their console though.

[–] Choice_Produce1079@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

here I laugh while watching consoles companies struggle to realize the problem is the consoles/companies themselves. Why are we the people paying $400-$700 and getting cheap ass gimmick consoles that have no good exclusives left because they either cancelled all the future games or bought the companies and then liquidated anything worth money.

I hate PlayStation, Microsoft and Nintendo equally nowadays simply because they constantly ignore the people who keep them in business which is all of us.

[–] noble-failure@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I’m not sure if they’re talking about making the cloud version available or actually releasing native games on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. The latter would be a hell of a shift, considering they killed a PS version of Starfield. The former is something they’ve talked about for years.

[–] Iggy1404@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

The only way Sony and Nintendo agree to this is if Microsoft kills off Xbox consoles. Which isn’t outside of realm of possibility considering how poor the sales are.

I think it’s their plan B if 2028. next gen console fails and Cloud fails to gain expected traction.

Besides they now own so many AAA studios that it would be an incredibly lucrative business.

[–] ToasterDispenser@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Mayhaps they should actually make it work on PC then.

It's non-functional for over half my friends.

[–] PhD_Hobbo@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

So instead of making live service games they want to make games live service.

They need more subscribers. Period. They cannot afford to support all of the AAA studios they have purchased, with the amount of subscribers they have now. Starfield most likely didnt bring in enough new subscribers, and Xbox gamers make it frequently known they will not buy games. Their only chance, is to gain subscribers from other consoles. Its been assumed for a while now, that gamepass is most likely not profitable. If you look at what they spend to bring outside games to the service, theres almost no way it can be. Now add in all of the acti studios they have to pay for.

[–] lefthandedpen@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and rubbing it in shit, they could do with looking at what the market wants rather than share holders, they have the console to turn it around. They just need to improve their first party titles.

Only way I see it is if they have a version of gamepass that only contains Xbox exclusive games. No way Sony or Nintendo want to lose third party sales money.

Cool, so put it on my steam deck and put steam on my xbox.

[–] Any-Ad2232@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

The only way i can see gamepass on playstation if they strip it down to something like only xbox 1st party games or something like that.

[–] TooLateQ_Q@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If they move activision to gamepass only I sure hope playstation starts considering getting gamepas.

[–] EatMePlsDaddy@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Maybe something like Game Pass Core currently? 25 games or so included, bunch of Xbox exclusives included.

[–] MellowDramaticWhale@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I’ve seen this coming for a while now. Microsoft is notoriously bad with hardware. They excel at software.

They want to be the Netflix of gaming. Of course they want to put gamepass on everything.

Add to the fact that Sony and Nintendo sell far more consoles it makes sense.

[–] StrngBrew@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (20 children)

All I really care about is getting it on Steam Deck. That would be great

MS could definitely do some sort of first party only gamepass offering that I imagine a lot of these companies could be open to

This seems like a cool idea but the fact that Xbox wants their games on other consoles is a big red flag for the future of Xbox.. they just bought a lot of companies.. surely they wouldn’t need to do this change of started unless they were desperate for sales. Their hardware sales are faltering, game pass and COD is their saving grace. Pushing to PC is a smart move though.

[–] DeM0nFiRe@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Is this a change in strategy? Hasn't the assumption all along been they want to get game pass on playstation and nintendo? Like everyone assumed when Microsoft promised call of duty on those consoles they were gonna try to do it via game pass and then say "well hey if you dont let us put gamepass there then I guess you dont want call of duty afterall" (I still assume this shoe will drop at some point)

[–] Ok_Swim_2691@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Seems to me like Game Pass isn't profitable unless every console uses it.

[–] yes_u_suckk@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Sony and Nintendo certainly won't allow Game Pass in their game consoles now.

But with games becoming more and more digital (some games not even have physical releases anymore) I think it's mandatory to end walled gardens in game consoles, the same way the EU is aiming to do right now with the App Store.

[–] LeekTerrible@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (7 children)

Of course they do. They want to snuff out physical copies so that subscriptions become the norm, they rapidly increase prices like Netflix and they're the defacto market leader. Anybody paying attention can see this is the strategy.

Put it on Linux so I can play on steamdeck.

[–] Mitchelld73@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

They really need to get game pass cloud gaming on more TVs. It’s crazy you can’t play game pass on AppleTV or Chromecast(technically you can with screen mirroring but it’s ass. There sound be a dedicated app)

[–] pokemonisok@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Just the rationalizations of a loser. Can't beat em? Join them.

They just bought blizzard and still can't figure out a way to justify the existence of their consoles

[–] BrainzRYummy@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Would GP being on every single console even be viable for the industry as a whole? GP works for Microsoft because they have money to burn and see it as an investment in future revenue but wouldn't this lead to more studios closing down? I mean just how profitable is GP for the average non triple AAA developer? This is not a fanboy thing I am genuinely asking. I have a PS5, Series S and a Switch. Also my 2 children each have a switch as well. I like that each company is doing things a little different. Also I admit as a fan of physical media and consumer rights this would annoy the hell out of me.

[–] Moo_Moo_Mr_Cow@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

my main want is for them to put WoW on gamepass for $20 so I can save $5 a month.
