It was very very very slow. The season finale was 🤯🤯🤯.

For All Mankind, Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, Foundation, Pachinko (my personal favourite), I could go on.

Apple TV+ may not have many shows. But their quality ratio is unmatched.

And Ted Lasso got boring after the first season 🤷‍♂️

[–] MeatsOfRage@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Morning Show too. When we're looking for a new thing to watch we always check Apple first to see if there's anything new. Netflix drops heaps of garbage on their service then cancels the good stuff. Prime has a lot of really expensive but hollow productions. Zaslav is stripping HBO for parts. Apple doesn't put out a lot but I can usually trust the stuff they put on there.

I agreed with you right until the last sentence.

[–] TheDarkKnight@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Yeah even shows I’m not into have a mark of quality that definitely is appealing to others interests. As is typical with Apple, they focus on quality over quantity. Haters hate, and there is plenty to be critical of, but Apple gives a fuck about quality much more than a lot of their competition.

Slow horses back at the end of the month!

Invasion isn't a bad show but ignoring the fact that See, Silo, Severance, Slow Horses, Foundation, For All Mankind, and most other shows on Apple TV exist is just dumb. Ted Lasso was mid after season 1 imo but Apple TV has an unmatched quality level with most of their library. I dislike Apple but they've been making banger after banger compared to every other streaming service and I hope Monarch is just as good as everything else.

[–] swiffswaffplop@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

Severance was one of the best shows to come out in the last few years.

[–] LilB0kChoy@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I feel like the difference in Apple TVs shows versus other streamers is the cinematic quality.

It reminds me of the days when the difference between network tv shows and premium cable shows was distinct.

I can’t seem to find the exact words but it feels like Apple TVs programming is just more polished, whether the plot/writing/pacing etc. is not great it still feels like a polished product that fell short.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Apple understands that trying to cut every corner to reduce cost is a recipe for garbage. More than that, they’re not afraid to spend what’s necessary to achieve better than “good”. I think they’re evil in other ways for sure, but I respect this about them. It shows in everything* they produce.

Slow Horses is phenomenal! One of my favourite series in years

[–] executive_chicken@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago (8 children)

Someone didn’t bother watching For All Mankind, and it shows. Do yourself a favor and give it a watch!

[–] loboaureo@lemm.ee 30 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Fundation, severance and tales from the loop.

At other hand nice meme and Ted Lasso is a must

Did Apple pick up Tales from the Loop?

[–] Numberone@startrek.website 6 points 1 year ago

Just looked it up, looks like it's still Amazon. Could be missing something though.

"For all mankind" is far from flawless but I quite enjoyed it so far.

[–] LucidLethargy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

All of those can be watched in a month, though. It's not enough to sustain an entire subscription. Also, foundation kind of sucked (nothing happened... maybe it will in the future, but also maybe it won't)

Tales from the loop is actually on Amazon prime, lol.

[–] Klanky@sopuli.xyz 13 points 1 year ago (8 children)

I would say Severance, For All Mankind, & Foundation are all good to great. Apple TV has been doing a great job with the quality vs. quantity compared to other services. I tried to get into Ted Lasso but it wasn’t for me.

I love Ted Lasso, but I actually have found about a dozen shows on AppleTV+. I love Severance, The Servant, Loot, Trying, Still Up, See, Foundation, The Morning Show, Physical, nature shows, documentaries, and still have shows on my list I haven’t gotten too.

[–] Tier1BuildABear@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Thank you, Tim Apple

You haven't watched Shrinking then..

[–] HadManySons@lemmy.bond 11 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Foundation and Silo are phenomenal

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Severance and Silo you mean. Foundation has been partly great and partly terrible. Any plotline with Brother Day has been fantastic. The others have been weak or, in the case of Salvor, terrible. Overall, the foundation is worth a watch, but it is not phenomenal, in my opinion. Not like the other shows.

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

And Severance. One of my most-awaited TV show returns.

[–] funkajunk@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

From what I have heard of Foundation, it's good if you've never read the books.

Invasion is decent

Foundation is super good

Slow horses is super good

Honestly a lot of great shows recently have been on 🍎+

[–] AstridWipenaugh@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Can't wait for Silo S2!

[–] Conyak@lemmy.tf 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There are some great shows on Apple TV but for me Foundation is not one of them. I really enjoyed The Afterpart.

Severance and Foundation have been great. The Morning Show is pretty good, too. But yes, TL is GOAT.

[–] rahmad@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Not enough shoutouts for Shrinking here...

Ted Lasso is definitely holding up the platform, no disagreement, but there's some other great content there as well. Prehistoric Planet, too.

[–] Retrograde@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Severance is brilliant

I might still be watching invasion if it weren’t so damn dark, as in, I’m watching a black tv screen for 30% of each episode. Really enjoyed lasso, foundation, and currently watching for all mankind which is also quite good so far.
