Summary

Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory has energized Christian nationalist leaders who view his win as a mandate from God.

Figures on the far-right, including leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation—a movement advocating “Christian dominionism,” or Christian rule over government and society—celebrated Trump’s win as a divine reformation of America.

Prominent evangelical figures like Lance Wallnau, Sean Feucht, and Charlie Kirk invoked religious language, seeing Trump’s presidency as part of God’s plan.

Trump’s victory reinforces the belief that he is a vessel for God’s will, further fueling the ascendant Christian nationalist movement in the US.

Trump’s victory reinforces the belief that he is a vessel for God’s will

So is the anti-christ. Not like they'd even notice, though.

Now that Trump doesn't need to get reelected I think conservative Christians are in for a very big surprise: He actually doesn't give AF about them. In fact, he thinks they're idiots (he's said so in the past).

I seriously doubt he's going to attempt to appease them much at all during his next administration because he doesn't need them anymore. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he completely throws them under the bus in any number of fashions.

I guarantee we're going to get a lot of headlines next year similar to the woman who said, "he's not hurting the right people!" This will include a whole lot of conservative Christians who thought Trump was going to institute their agenda but will instead totally screw them over.

I wouldn't be surprised if he demands the taxation of churches so he can further line his pockets with more grift. He'll say it's necessary to pay off the debt or something like that then we'll find out that the money is directly going into his and his allies pockets.

Oh he's going to try to appease them and it's going to make news it's going to make huge news. Does he actually give a damn about appeasing him of course not but it'll keep us all distracted while he erodes every single social advancement made since the new deal. It'll all get on wound under some religious BS or done in the background while fighting a religious BS.

He also has no reason not to appease them, and he's known for being willing to sign anything that's put in front of him.

I don't know how much it matters what Trump wants. Once the initial fervor dies down, they won't need him. The moment he pisses off the wrong people will have president Vance.

Stop calling them Christians. None of them have read the New Testament.

Jesus would personally beat all of them to death.

[–] ElcaineVolta@kbin.melroy.org 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

if they say they're christian, they are

[–] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I can call myself a cat, but that doesn't make it true.

[–] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 0 points 4 days ago

But if a critical mass of people call you a cat, then that's just how language works.

All religions exist to be twisted by the worst people on the planet, same as it ever was.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I think perhaps you don't know your fellow Christians as well as you think. These types have been Christianity since the 80s.

I'm a member of the Satanic Temple, but true Christians still exist. They're just vastly outnumbered by people who use the Old Testament as an excuse to hate others.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago

No, these types have been the Christians making news since the 80s. There are plenty of actual Christians who actually read the Bible and know what it says, over the maniacs who just say they’re Christian because they grew up in the south. Just look at the split of the Methodist church for exactly how many churches have quietly been teaching true Christianity for decades. The extremists were loud and embarrassed the church and so the church cut them out.

[–] DBT@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

This dude is the exact opposite of WWJD. Fucking dipshits.

Or at least uphold existing laws. Churches are 501(c)(3) non-profits. By definition a 501(c)(3) is an organization that doesn’t promote or oppose any political candidate. They can say whatever they want about ballot measures, but not candidates.

If they’re promoting a candidate, remove their tax-exempt status.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

I can't really be shocked that the people who spend their days praying for an apocalypse are happy about this.

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They must be like “yay the anti-Christ is has total power to exterminate the unclean before Jesus gets here to save us!”

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

what a shining beacon of every Christian value ever!

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 9 points 5 days ago

Our founders would be so appalled. Total opposite of what they were aiming for.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm also guessing the woundings of David Dutch and James Copenhaver and the death of Corey Comperatore was also part of god's plan.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I never hear that it was God's plan for Ashley Babbit to die. I wonder why?

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

I remember people saying the same in 16 then we got a plague.

Dipshits.

[–] PedroMaldonado@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I grew up hearing about these prophecies, and these assholes are falling for the same shit.....

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Wait. Is this one of those prophecies that are written down after the fact?
