I don't know why Meta is so eager to finish destroying itself. How long do you think people will be interested in ready AI-generated mush? Not that the quality has ever been high on Meta's platforms; this will most likely accelerate the disillusionment with their offerings. I can't say that is a bad thing, really.

It dives me crazy that influencers and instagram wannabes have declared Ozempic a weight loss drug. As a diabetic, Ozempic has been the most effective glucose controlling medication I have ever taken. It drives me crazy that people see it as an easy weight loss medication. I couldn't get it for months because of this insanity.

Also FUCK pharmaceutical companies for this predatory pricing shit and fuck our government for allowing this to happen.

Not sure why it was edited but seems right. I think the dot of the "i" made it outside the box there.

End the electoral college for god’s sake.

Kind of a long haircut for a Vulcan.

There is nothing unhealthy about peanut butter (when I say that I mean ground peanuts, not the brands with an insane number of additives), but almost anything in extreme quantities can be toxic. Even water.

New Orleans is an incredible place full of incredible people. Try directing your justified anger at the villains.

The original question came up over snorting drugs through a rolled up C note but would also likely encompass shooting heroin or smoking meth/crack. But the consensus appears to be not to ask for an NSFW tag at this time. So that will be our stance unless you guys decide things are going too far and you want the tag included on posts with that sort of content.

[–] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

It definitely is for those things, but in general it's meant to encompass things that would cause problems if a coworker or manager looked over your shoulder. Graphic depictions of illegal drug use is borderline which is why I wanted to ask the community how they felt about it.

Hey guys, it was brought up in a report that NSFW tags should be applied to posts depicting drug use. What do you guys think? I could see it either way and thought you guys might like to weigh in on it. I personally don't find it particularly offensive but my work environments have never been the type to react strongly to something like this popping up on screen (I think they might be more upset about being on Lemmy at all). Currently there is no rule, and I am fine with that, unless feedback indicates the community would rather play it safe and require the NSFW flag.

It's been a rough few weeks.

Welcome to Texas.

There is something fun and sinister about a well done lovecraftian style story. If you don't mind that sort of thing I HIGHLY recommend "The Void" during your halloween times. It is very lovecraftian and works on a lot of levels. To me "Event Horizon" also has that feel. As long as the stories play up the creep factor over the sheer gore of it all I think there are some cool ideas here.

H.P. Lovecraft was known for his fantastical novels, whose influence has bled into the cultural perception of horror, making them perfect for modern movie adaptations. Lovecraft is undoubtedly a flawed and prejudiced figure in literature, and any undertaking to adapt his stories should acknowledge the issues of racism, xenophobia, and homophobia in his work. Bringing Lovecraft into the modern era means doing his work justice, as well as exploring how they can be made more reflective of the present day.

This is the movie I probably would have seen this weekend if they hadn't shut down all of the Alamo Drafthouse theaters in my city. Was it a good time?

I would love to see a well made watchmen project. I have been working through the graphic novels and am really impressed with the writing and the art.

I really hope this is a good thing. I don't want to see theaters die, but I really hope Sony doesn't interfere with the things that make Alamo Drafthouse great... I really hope they can rectify the closure of all the DFW locations as well.

The fundamental tenet of a working democracy is voting. Everyone should have a vote and everyone should exercise their right to vote. To that end we have been seeing posts attempting to shame/mock or otherwise influence people not to vote. While this is a meme community, the idea that people shouldn’t vote goes against the fundamentals of a democracy by the people and for the people. To that end, we are adding a new rule that disallows posts that discourage or shame people from voting. This doesn’t mean that you can’t address how people vote, but even those who don’t agree with you and your political views should still vote. We all should. Everyone. Part of the reason we are in the mess we are in now is because participation in democracy is abysmal. Posts discouraging people from voting are essentially propaganda and will be removed.

PoliticalMemes is a community for having fun at the expense of our political hellscape we find ourselves in. People not voting is a big part of why.

We are taking feedback on this change, please let us know if you agree or disagree in the comments and why.
