I wonder what the current status is this bullshit is...

Joe Biden Is Shipping Weapons to Israel Every 36 Hours

2024/03/13

The Biden administration has been able to maintain a low profile by spreading arms provision to Israel across more than 100 smaller munitions sales — allowing the president to posture as a peacekeeper while US weapons wipe Gaza off the map.

[–] someone@hexbear.net 80 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Great! Now just ban weapons exports to Israel effective immediately, as a demonstration of intent.

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 78 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Palestinian children die by the thousands? Not gonna call it

Arab journalists targeted by snipers? Not gonna call it

Palestinians starving to death? Not gonna call it

Hospitals obliterated while occupied? Not gonna call it

White aid workers? CEASEFIRE! One of them was white British and another was a white Australian! Israel you have gone too far!

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 9 points 7 months ago

Lol and it’s still performative. He hasn’t done a damn thing to stifle support.

[–] Maoo@hexbear.net 72 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Biden can just force a ceasefire any time he wants by just telling Israel he'll cut off funding and arms and intel.

And if they don't listen and try to do their thing (genocide) anyways while being completely cut off for months and months, well that will be when it might be okay to say "genocide Joe did eventually try to rein it in a little".

It’s not up to Biden, he’s just the representative.

The bourgeoisie are all behind Israel. Find me a corporation that puts up both Ukraine and Palestinian flags. You can’t.

The bourgeoisie want a war and Biden will give it to them. If not, they will find someone else who does.

I continue to be baffled by people here who think the voters somehow decide the election. No, this is a bourgeois democracy. The bourgeoisie decide who gets to run the country. Voters have no say in it whatsoever.

[–] SpookyGenderCommunist@hexbear.net 15 points 7 months ago

Find me a corporation that puts up both Ukraine and Palestinian flags. You can’t.

Not a corporation, but I did see an apartment above a corner store that had flags in every window. Palestinian, Ukrainian, that red and white Belorussian flag, Western Saharah.

Least confused flag haver.

While the bourgeoisie are of course the ruling class, and this includes power over the state, the mechanisms they use allow for someone like Biden to easily do what I mentioned. His rabid Zionism is a major factor in how this is playing out. Biden the rabid Zionist is in office because of the bourgeoisie, as an example for how they exert power. But he could withhold much from the Israeli project and only a minority of the ruling class would whine about it - those with major investments in Israel.

But my guy you just send them weapons the other fucking day

[–] Elon_Musk@hexbear.net 66 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You leave me no choice but to ask you nicely again!

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 14 points 7 months ago

"You do that about 6 or 7 more times and you're gonna have a problem with me, fat!"

[–] betelgeuse@hexbear.net 60 points 7 months ago (1 children)

People who spent the last week passionately arguing that Joe doesn't have to listen to do anything, because everything is fine, will now flip to saying that we should be happy because Joe finally did something.

[–] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 53 points 7 months ago (1 children)

And that we should just accept this one win, go home, and stop fighting everything else til Nov 12th

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

Gonna do em one better and stay home until the 13th

[–] Rx_Hawk@hexbear.net 55 points 7 months ago (1 children)

The thousandth warning to Israel to protect civilians or risk losing US support. And surely, like every other time, the US will continue send weapons.

[–] duderium@hexbear.net 45 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I’ll believe it when Palestine is free (or when the weapons’ shipments stop, at the very least).

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 44 points 7 months ago (4 children)

I've been trying to imagine why Tired Old Joe suddenly is calling for a ceasefire. My wild guess is that he's worried that an invasion of Rafah would be butchery and a bloodbath so bad that the aftermath could continue to election day and he might have totally fucked himself out of any chance for a second term.

[–] drinkinglakewater@hexbear.net 46 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Definitely the optics of white aid workers being killed by the IOF forcing him to do something.

[–] edge@hexbear.net 30 points 7 months ago

and he might have totally fucked himself out of any chance for a second term

He's already done that. There's no undoing it short of actually punishing Israel in a major way.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 18 points 7 months ago

"And another thing, I'm not genociding, please don't put it in the newspaper that I'm genociding"

[–] ikilledtheradiostar@hexbear.net 13 points 7 months ago

My guess was the hoothi were about to do something cool. They did just get hypersonics and the us is now trying diplomatic solutions. They should still sink an aircraft carrier tho

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 43 points 7 months ago

You just fucking sent them f-35s and bombs you sack of shit.

Love to call for an end to drunk driving while I crack my 5th beer doing 90 in a 65.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 41 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Would have been really nice to do this before sending them a bunch of F16s

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 38 points 7 months ago

fry Checking to make sure this isn't Melina (RIP) posting to FakeNews

[–] copandballtorture@hexbear.net 38 points 7 months ago

Guess they harvested enough adrenochrome from Palestinian bodies to keep Joe alive through November, so he can call for a ceasefire now

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 36 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Prediction - within the next ~24 hours before the Friday night news dump obscures interest - Hillary is going to go out of her way to "incidentally" make a comment she knows it will be recorded and disseminated. She's going to say something like "First, more must be done to pressure Hamas. A ceasefire is premature."

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 25 points 7 months ago (1 children)

"Let me also say that as much as I admire and respect Joe Biden in regards to Israel - if I had been elected president in 2016 as I should have..."

[–] edge@hexbear.net 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

if I had been elected president in 2016 as I should have

She would have botched covid as well and lost to Trump or worse in 2020.

That's a little rude for an April fool's joke

[–] moujikman@hexbear.net 35 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

The official whitehouse briefing said that he 'underscored' that a ceasefire would improve things and urged them to negotiate, and it wasn't conditional. I can't wait for someone to tell me to vote for biden because he called for a ceasefire.

[–] macerated_baby_presidents@hexbear.net 33 points 7 months ago (1 children)

For four years the people who voted for Joe Biden have seen him "call for" universal healthcare, a (conditional) ceasefire, etc. You're the fucking president, do something about it! He is going to lose.

[–] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 11 points 7 months ago

He would be going to lose in a free and fair election so-far

[–] 2Password2Remember@hexbear.net 32 points 7 months ago

cool, still hope he dies though

Death to America

[–] lemmyseizethemeans@lemmygrad.ml 30 points 7 months ago

This reminds me of the scene in spinal tap where it's like 1972 and they are dressed up in full hippie attire singing 'where have all the flower children gone'

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 25 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

The US is normally the staunchest supporter of Israel’s right to defend itself, but for some unknown reason the Biden Administration is suddenly signaling that its support is now uncommitted and uninstructed.

[–] BlueMagaChud@hexbear.net 24 points 7 months ago (1 children)

only 6 months late you fucking prick

[–] edge@hexbear.net 31 points 7 months ago

Over 3 years late. Actually more like 16 years late. Or really 52 years late.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 21 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Ok, then act on it.

[–] Harajukum@hexbear.net 17 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

He probably is substituting a ‘pause’ by calling it ceasefire + I don’t believe him+ will probably send more arms + another 20 billion to Israel when this cools down. There is literally no reason to believe his words besides copium at this point, hes done zilch so far. he’s worried about how this looks to the world, and his election chances.

[–] hexaglycogen@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

I sincerely do hope this changes things in a material way for Palestinian people, even though I'm fully expecting to be disappointed.

[–] iie@hexbear.net 9 points 7 months ago

Please elect me haha
