Being a DIK - comfy game that sparks joy, among other things…

And most of all, remember that you are the only one who gets to determine what's fun for you.
We all have that one terrible game or movie that we still have a good time with.

Stardew Valley again it is!
I've been having a blast with quake III arena these few days lol, amazing game
Ima have fun playing league then
Been tryna force myself to play WoW. Picked up Darktide during the steam autumn sale and had a fucking blast playing. Falling behind in WoW but its so worth it, purging heretics with the boys is great
If I only played games that were fun or sparked joy, I'd never play video games.
I don't play multiplayer games, I'm just trying to find something that doesn't leave me mentally tired after an hour of playing, it's getting really annoying
I'm having a blast coming back to Path of Exile. Haven't had fun with friends in a while
Demons tilt w00t
Agreed used to be angry all the time then I switched to single player or Co op shooters. So much better, still get that pvp itch every once in a while though.
Any games where I can actually just have fun instead of "collecting" stuff? meaning "plug and play", no grinding/itemization/inventory management involved? Also, no FPS (i'm the worst in those). Preferably a balanced game. Must be a PvP game. Top down is a plus.
Thank you!
i 2nd this. ever since moving to another state, my internet speed is not suitable for gaming. so, i used to play games like cod, halo, fortnite etc. now i only play single player games. i’ve gone through nearly my whole catalogue and had a pretty damn good time remembering how it feels to play a game that’s intrinsically fun rather than playing to earn something. this is what people are not realizing in modern gaming. the game itself is rarely fun anymore, it’s the prizes they dangle in front of you that trick you into playing more because you hold onto the hope that gaining new items or skins will make the game fun, but this is just not the case. especially with halo and cod is just a lost cause now. i do miss rocket league a lot tho. and older battlefield games.
Nowadays playing a slow singleplayer game feels like reading a book, it just feels too slow
I don't play that many online games, maybe two. LOTRO being one of them, but I treat it as a single-player MMO experience, chilling and questing in the vast world of Middle-earth the folks over at SSG have created.
The only "competitive" online game I play from time to time is World of Tanks, but I tend to play it for a couple of days and uninstall it.
Single-player games are the way to go for me. Currently playing Mafia DE, after that, if time allows, I'll start my adventures in Skyrim.
I recently bought terraria for my friend and I but now he's ignoring me when I say let's play terraria. :( I haven't been able to have fun. Rocket league isn't fun anymore fortnite I got back on but still isn't fun. I'm bored of far cry for now. CS2 is still the same but with worse hit boxes. Valorant is only good for ranked. My other friend had his access to steam blocked by his father. :( I'm trying man
I have no fun games, no friends to play with
I'm gonna stay at self hating and losing every competitive game I play.
WoW is my comfy game. I have Wonder, Totk, BG3, SO2R and I'd still rather play WoW
How very dare you
i like to give myself a headache, high blood pressure and anger issues
The rage is joy
Playing Deathloop the past few days, trying to clear up my Steam buylist and i cant tell if im enjoying it or not. It has good ideas, the timeloop idea is rather neat but it just doesnt seem to hit the vibes its going for some reason.
Anyone else experience that with it?
Ever since i quit Destiny earlier this year, i feel like i have way more time to play what I want. Even finally finished Cyberpunk 2077 and SOMA over my break
Lol I just got destiny collection for dirt cheap. Start a fresh character and thoroughly enjoying this run. Have someone who's never played before playing as well and it's just a blast.
My favorite thing is shepherding a full group through their first raid
SOMA
A game i recommend to everyone to play. Its a rare gem this one.
After Lightfall, I realised that this game was never going to be what I wanted it to be and I hated everything about the new direction it was going. Uninstalled for the last time lol.
Lol ive always just put destiny down every couple months but i finally decided to delete it for the first time at the beginning of season of the witch cuz i needed space and wasnt playing at all, not sure if ill come back for tfs…
I'll wait until it's past gone and get all the old content and run raids with my friends
Oh man. SOMA. I love that game so much.
Dammit, now I have to go play again! runs
Damn, you got me red handed
I was super excited for FF XVI and now I haven't touched it in over a month even though I enjoy the game..
Took me 3 years to beat witcher 3 because of this.
But yeah the side quests are making me take breaks in FFXVI. Finally got to the end of the game, thinking I've done everything there was to do and finally ready to go fight the big bad, only for the game to throw like 10 side quests at you right before the final level. Really broke the momentum and made me lose hype for the ending knowing that I now have to put that aside while I do some errands. You might say i don't have to finish every single optional side quest, but we all know that isn't true.
The hardest boss. Ourselves
Accept the Truth: games no longer bring you joy.
Go play that comfy game that sparks joy.
me playing Slay the Spire at 1 am: erm ...
I just started playing... do you unlock the other characters all at once through progression? I've beat one big boss and almost through the 2nd tier/map
yeah, i kept trying to force myself to play COD or Battlefield online and all I'm doing is getting frustrated.. As soon as I booted up Rainbow Six Vegas' campaign I was in heaven. I even found some satisfaction from Battlefield's Vs AI lobby.
Don't know what platform you are on but if you have a PC you should give Battlebit Remastered a try especially if you like Battlefield.
I went back and played the 100 greatest adventure games of all time. It was a blast.
I have OCD. For Skyrim, I mapped out 10 playthroughs, one for each race, with a definite goal for each. This led me to make spreadsheets and documents explaining everything about the build, the quests to do, what items or spells to get, what order to do things in, etc. Skyrim has I think like 89 followers, and I assigned “allowed,” and “not allowed,” for each one, for each playthrough (there are no high-elf followers in Skyrim).
This took me two months of testing the builds viabilities, reworking, and intense, constant research. Fast forward a year later, I have not played through any of the builds, and the project isnt even on the backburner.
I did something similar with Doom. I made a spreadsheet of every level of every id/Doom Engine/Build Engine game. Every. Single. One. I wanted to beat them all in release order, and play and beat a lot of the mods out there. I beat Doom 1 and 2, played for a few hours with several of the hundreds of mods I downloaded, and again, its been a long time, and it is so far in the back of my mind, I havent done it yet.
As for Skyrim, it did give me a cool idea for a mod where you don’t get choices, and the game isnt a sandbox, but a linear RPG, like Fable. It would make the game way better if you played as a character doing predetermined stuff. I hate being a warrior to get mages robes which is the main problem of Skyrim. Imagine playing throughout the Skyrim Civil War as all 10 races from 10 unique perspectives.
I guess what I’m trying to point out is that even when I want to just have fun, even when there is no reward for doing so, I optimize and research all the fun out of games, barely playing them. I just bought Scrap Mechanic and have probably watched more footage since buying than played it. I used to sink hours into a game, now it can’t hold my attention for more than an hour, or if it does, it becomes a total obsession. Mental illness is a trip lol.
You shutup and let me become the worst version of myself playing dota, leading me to being short with my gf and cranky for the rest of the day.
