Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

They have been mad about the department of education ever since they were forced to integrate public schools. Like most things in America, it all goes back to hating black people if you go back far enough.

Fascists: Let's destroy the part of the government that educates our people.

Also fascists: We're just smol bean megacorps that are FORCED to hire people from out of the country to find anyone competent! Why aren't native born USians educated?!? Must be because we react to sitcoms wrong.

This country is trying so hard to burn itself down

Fucking Vivek, lol. Another Harvard undergrad, Yale law graduate finance bro complaining about there not being enough engineers in the US.

He's right up there with all the other suit wearing, ivy league chuds and podcast bros that have been telling everyone (guys, specifically) that college is a woke DEI scam and to go to trade school instead while they sit in air conditioned offices.

Kind of funny that the same people who constantly glaze white people want to muscle them out of every single job except back-breaking trades: literally choosing their job for them.

Compared to the rest of the government, the DoEd is tiny. They make up a negligible amount of Federal employees (rounds to 0%), and have a relatively small budget (less than 2%).

2% too many! Besides, anything that supports workers? Removing it is TOP PRIORITY! That 2% means more money to subsidize BUSINESS!

~~DoE is the department of Energy, this is the DoEd. Other than that you're correct.~~ (post was edited)

The overwhelming majority of DoEd-associated government employees are associated with student loans or state run programs like Vocational Rehabilitation services.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 22 points 16 hours ago

Ah but if we got rid of that 2%, we could add that straight into our concentration camp budget!

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 47 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Bruh who is gonna deal with the loans?

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 46 points 17 hours ago (4 children)

Maybe comrade Trump is planning to eliminate all student debt by destroying any records of their existence?

[–] hotcouchguy@hexbear.net 42 points 17 hours ago

Doing project mayhem accidentally

[–] picklemeister@hexbear.net 37 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

i think debtor's prisons and roping in student debt is more likely, musk was out retweetering bukele on expanding slave labor

[–] someone@hexbear.net 16 points 15 hours ago

Mandatory military service for anyone who gets delinquent with loans. A reverse GI bill.

[–] Sulv@hexbear.net 13 points 17 hours ago

God I hope so

[–] RION@hexbear.net 6 points 14 hours ago

It's been referred to committee, who knows it if it will make it back out. I'd say that I don't expect it to come to a vote, but I'm not making any predictions at this point. I mean the Republican party has been trying to get rid of public school for some time.

[–] crime@hexbear.net 31 points 18 hours ago

Man, isn't Kansas still suffering pretty hard from all their education cuts in the Brownback era? I'm sure this won't be like a larger scale, worse version of that
