Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Jesus fucking Christ the fascism is here.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 13 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

How the fuck did the Huffington Post get included?

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 hours ago

It's all the same capitalist/imperial trash.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It's like the token liberal coming on as a guest on Fox News. They're there to be a strawman to attack and mock. Anything they say can just be twisted into, "HuffingtonPost is an obviously biased liberal hack. But see? We're being fair!"

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 1 points 12 hours ago

Ah. Good point.

All that ball gargling really helped ya there NYT

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago

Imagine writing about this dude fucking over all of the people that helped him gain power at minimum once a week for 8 years, and then thinking that it's still a good idea to do the same.

Yet another example of leopards that aren't gonna eat my face.

Yep, we all knew they’d be the first victims of the Trump dictatorship. Hope selling out the country for a few months of “Biden old” headlines was worth it, rat bastards.

They're all owned by oligarchs. Trumps tax cuts alone will probably net those oligarchs 10x more profit than the orgs they own.

I fucking ADORE this schadenfreude right now.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 92 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

And now they control the media. Just like the Nazis.

Yeah cause all those capitalist/imperial outlets were constantly criticizing and resisting the pentagon. \s \s \s

This is how trump repays those who were complicit in his rise.

[–] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 51 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

Which is amusing because The New York Times spent months working to get Trump reelected. And almost certainly had a much greater impact on his election victory than either Breitbart or OAN. They tanked their credibility for some cheap headlines and still got the boot. lol

Yes, they were the complicit ones I was talking about.

[–] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 11 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Ah right. Sorry I misread your comment. It’s getting pretty late over here.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago

No worries. In retrospect, there was ambiguity.

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 21 points 20 hours ago (4 children)

Well, that's a 1st amendment issue, that's an incoming lawsuit they're going to lose

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 21 points 14 hours ago

when are people going to stop believing lawsuits and laws are going to stop fascists from doing whatever the fuck they want to do?

Well, that’s a 1st amendment issue, that’s an incoming lawsuit they’re going to lose

No, it's not.

Hegseth isn't restricting those outlets from appearing at Pentagon briefings; rather they're not being allowed to maintain an office on-site. While elevating right-wing liars such as Breitbart and OAN is obviously terrible, the other outlets will still be attending whatever propaganda rallies Hegseth holds.

[–] Thistlewick@lemmynsfw.com 25 points 20 hours ago

Lawsuit, sure. But Lose? Have you been paying attention?

If the lawsuit isn’t thrown out by some rat-fuck judge, the result will have absolutely no impact on the current machinations of the diet-Nazis.

It’s going to take more than a stern talking to if you want to root out fascists.

[–] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 22 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I suppose if we’re going to be Russia we needed our own RT and Pravda. Ugh… We’re so fucked.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 10 hours ago

You mean VOA and NPR?

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 7 points 19 hours ago

Forgot to mention HuffPost will also be getting an office.
