Does CNN have an opinion on the matter?

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago

THOUGH IT IS OFTEN UNCLEAR WHEN HE'S SERIOUS????????

Can we just have a tiny little fucking bit of real journalism for one godamn second?

How long did this sit in your head before you produced it?

I've seen the right redefine woke and legislate it on a whim to prosecute political enemies, what's stopping the opposition from using this law against you or I?

The world is more complex than that, and I'm sure you know it.

It just seems performative and works against your other point. It would be nice to flip a magic switch and get rid of Nazism, but at the same time, you're right that you can't just decide what free speech is allowed and what is when it comes to this. I get it for words or phrases that cause immediate danger like, bomb, fire, etc.

Everything else is a slippery slope, especially given how creative our supreme court is (US)

This is not the correct way to do this.

No idea why you're being downvoted so much, you're absolutely on point for US restaurants. I've served in them, I've managed them (still didn't fucking get paid doing that)

And this press the union button bullshit above is insane. Restaurants have like a 5% success rate already, if they can just yeet entire Starbucks/Walmart locations on a whim, how the fuck do you guys think that's going to go with a restaurant?

Unionizing may be the best route, but we have to stop pretending it's a walk in the park to do.

Fuck yeah dude. Looking out for other people only can put you in a pretty deep hole. It took getting clean from opiates for me to finally accept that. Believe it or not I literally told myself yesterday, if no one else is going to give a shit, I'm just going to have to direct all my energy towards myself and my SO. Its really exhausting, but I hope it works out for us.

I can't argue with that, I guess the next question is how we can get there.

What can we do?

Godamn this is sad.

A lot of this reminds me of my dad, down to the non functioning eye due to stroke. He's an asshole, controlling, etc, but not quite this bad.

I really do hope you're able to make peace with this if you haven't already.

I don't think that the physical interference would have been enough to turn this one. The interference in the media/social media however was definitely the root cause to this. Along with Democrats shifting more right than they have in decades

LAST DAY FOR EARLY VOTING IN A LOT OF STATES, YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PROCRASTINATED AND NOW YOU NEED TO GO VOTE.

YOU ARE ENTITLED TO TIME OFF TO VOTE.

Southeast Texas, help is appreciated.

I'm putting this bad boy on the top left inside the UK flag, need help.

I am not bad with computers and have a beginner+, maybe intermediate level knowledge of Linux and I kept running into some problems here and there with different distros. Most claimed to work out of the box (which may be the case for some users, but I have a shit ass Nvidia 1060 and that was not at all the case, until I installed Nobara KDE/Nvidia.

Just came here to potentially save someone time, this shit is actually working out of the box, closest experience to this was with Arch, but that's definitely not out of the box.

I have a question I need to ask but I want to do it privately as the topic it correlates to is pretty taboo. Please comment or dm me, and I'll dm you back.

I wanted to post this for two reasons, one being to try to drive this community's engagement up a little, and the other to grow my collection of books on the topic.

As much as I'd love to see this community as active as its Reddit counterpart, I would also like if it wasn't as hostile as r/UFOs. So far on Lemmy, it's been great to see that for the most part we are not all at each other's throats.

Let's talk about some books, y'all. What should I be reading?

Hey fellas, I noticed a lot of people will install/boot headless versions of this software on raspi to conserve resources. If I go through installing what I need to install via the GUI/Terminal, will I have any issues when I'm finished turning on the boot to CLI? I assume this won't affect the background process too much (unless of course something I install needs a GUI.)

Along with that, will I still be conserving the same amount of resources as if I ran headless to begin with. Running x64 Bookworm on raspi 4 (8gb) if that matters, and have a general self-hosting setup.

Thanks in advance!
