I am mostly curious if any gun related checks do (I have some but been a long while since I bought new and not from someone I know), but really would be nice to know about other situations. Been thinking of being more serious in my personal studies (aka my backlog of books), and even try joining a party like the PSL. Just thought about asking after the topic of the "Red Scare" and McCarthy hearings got randomly brought up while hanging with some friends.

I know that the question (or some form of it) has been found unconstitutional and removed from things in the past. But would still be good to be aware of when it might be brought up or asked in an indirect way to avoid legal technicalities that stop it being asked that way.

It’s definitely still on immigration forms.

Not shocking to hear that no matter how messed up it is of course. I am guessing they can ask whatever they want since they can claim "national security" and immigrants/tourists don't have the same rights.

It's the same form that asks if you are a terrorist btw. I'm also not sure what constitutes as a communist party legally.

can confirm

Some of my relatives experienced that. Kind of explains why US immigrants tend to lean far-right.

What happens to people who say yes?

[–] Hexboare@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

They get denied residency and citizenship, usually

For foreigners/immigrants, yes. Not sure about US citizens though.

I haven't encountered any such thing in all my travels. The most I've encountered is an arbitrary increase to getting my shit searched whenever I fly.

I don't think I've run into any such form in current use, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
