Yeah well they should have learned how not to shit in the house.

[–] Shard@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

It's a mainly with predators that we have an easier time toilet training them. Evolution has killed off those that shat in their own caves because of diseases and bringing food back to a contaminated den will in turn contaminate the food. Whereas horses and most other herbivores live out in the open, move around more and travel long distances to graze.

Dogs fought in our wars as well

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 71 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Dogs served in war at least as much as horses, and are currently doing so in larger numbers.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago

Yeah there's a reason "cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war" is a Shakespeare line (from Caesar)

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 25 points 4 days ago

The horses only reward is to be the animal most frequently farted on by humans.

[–] JDTIV@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

I could be wrong about this but I'm fairly sure dogs have been with man for A LOT longer. Like 40,000 years ago, and I think, just from a quick Google, horses are like 4000 years...

Dog: Does he play fetch with you?

Horse: …

Dog: Does he let you sleep in his bed?

[–] Kitathalla@lemy.lol 2 points 3 days ago

I remember a horse that would play with one of those big inflatable exercise balls. Still wouldn't fetch though.

Was expecting the creepy spider dog. This looks like Eric Cartman’s dog in the future.

mc chris has some words to say about his relationship with his robot dog.

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Knowing MC Chris they're probably complaints about the sound levels or the dogs social media posts.

Somehow I knew that was from the Animatrix.

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” -Groucho Marx

Horses are more like our bedridden English children.

Jazira: What does this mean?

Frank T. Hopkins: Shunka Wakan? Big dog. There's no word in Sioux for horse. When the Indians saw the first one the Spanish brought over, they didn't know what the hell it was. When they saw how it could run, carry a man through battle, become his friend for life, well, they figured it had to be a sacred animal.

Jazira: Indeed.

The horse is here

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago

One side of the war loves them, but I'm sure the other side doesn't have nearly as high of an opinion.

[–] hansolo@lemm.ee 2 points 4 days ago

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Horses are also tasty. Dogs apparently are not.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Chihuahuas only exist because the Aztecs thought dogs were tasty.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 1 points 4 days ago (2 children)

How uh... would you know?

Asking for a friend.

I tried, of course.

He ate glue as a child.

Edit: No jokes about horses becoming glue, noted lol.
