She's gone.

Never gets easy.

Edit: Just want to say I love you folks a lot. Sorry for making things a bit of a downer! But I appreciate everyone of you, thank you for all the love.

Hardest decision ever imo. But when it comes down to a choice between one's own emotions, I think you did the right thing in choosing what's best for the dog. Hugs.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Hugs. It's the toughest decision to ever make. One day they'll make a dog that lives as long as we do, so we never have to say goodbye. 🐾

It's getting worse. I think it's time. I'm leaving work early.

I know this is a fact of life, but it's a terrible fact and I hate it! Hug your animals for me and tell them landsharkkidd loves them very much.

So, I have an interview today, and the HR rep said she'd email me a calendar invite confirming it. I have not received one, so I have sent an email to confirm it.

I'm stressed that it isn't actually booked in, and I'll be travelling across the city for nada. Ugh.

Edit: all good it's confirmed πŸ€—

Flying home tomorrow but I didn't do my laundry maths right so here I am at the laundromat.. at least I won't need to do washing when I get home!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Home for the nice weather. And it's such a nice feeling to get home and there's no housework waiting.😊

Meet Petunia. She is served as a 14oz prime rib, medium rare (which actually was more rare). Accompanying her is a creamy garlic mash, broccoli and a garlic sauce. To the side (not pictured) is a smoked Gouda mac and cheese and to drink, a Distinguished Gentleman consisting of bourbon, cherry liqueur and garnished with a cherry and orange peel served over an ice sphere.

Coming shortly is a creme brulee to close out the evening.

I'm still learning things on my watch and the other day I discovered that it wanted to record 10 minutes of non stop walking. No problems I'll do it on a nice day. Well today is that day so I start doing laps around the house with little dog, the kid comes out to see what I'm doing. I explain. Surely it's been 10 minutes now. Head over to her. She pushes a button and then the timer starts. I don't swear in front of my kid but today I did which brought a huge smile to her tonsillitis face.

So 2 weeks ago I saw a car I wanted. THE car I wanted. Well, not the colour, but the rest of it was perfect. This was the one I had been told would take 6-8 months to get. I figured "Cool, but Im not ready yet, and it'll be gone by the time I am ready". had a look Friday and guess what was still there? Called them, asked if they could hold it till October. They could. Took it for a spin, loved it. Chucked down a deposit. Job done. I need to figure out the money because we still dont know how bigger loss the stupid Mazda is gonna take. But its nice having a plan and a path out of this bullshit situation. Im wayyyy less stressed because I may not be at the finish line, but I can see it in sight.

Nap with the cat has been had, now I must turn my attention to what to have for dinner. I'm real lazy right now so everything feels like too much effort lol

I just sent a donation to the wonderful artisan in Mexico who designed the pattern for the masks I make. πŸ˜·πŸ˜€

[–] legios@aussie.zone 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Might not apply, but went on a date on Saturday night that surprised us both about how well it went. Online dating, and just dating in general for me I am super cynical but we just clicked. We've been texting constantly since then and it's nice. 4 years since my last 'real' date/partner. 6 years since divorced.

It's nice to just meet someone you get on well with.

I don't normally dream much, now I've dreamt twice in 24 hours. This virus is literally messing with my mind. Once about Ed Sheeran. I'm not even a fan of his stuff. Once about cleaning some woman's kitchen so I could help her study law. I don't know about law.

Do people really dream about stuff like this every day? How do you not get distracted thinking about your dreams all the time?

I know this is such a first world problem, but it can be annoying living in Australia from a travel perspective being so far away from everything.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It sure is. It still always sounds preposterous to me when people from Europe casually drop phrases like β€˜went to Rome for the long weekend’ I know it’s way better than it was. For my parents generation air travel was hideously expensive, even overseas phone calls were expensive. But yeah it’s still really far. Hoping for someone to invent another supersonic jet. I reckon there be a market for it even if it was more expensive.

Nahh I feel the same. I wish that I could just take a day trip to another country like Europe, or like being able to go through a few states like US. But no, takes like 2 hours just to get to the CBD.

It's why our ancestors came here πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ₯΄ Far away from war and problems.

I really don't like being so far away. πŸ˜”πŸ˜’

My parents have like $500 or so casino/resort credits left to use before tomorrow morning so we're hitting the fancy steakhouse tonight to blow it all on one meal. The cow I'm gonna eat is going to be so fancy it was once the chef's child's personal pet. My steak will have had a name and had little birthday parties with party hats each year, and its own Instagram account with TENS OF THOUSANDS of followers.

That story mooved me to tears and is udderly heartbreaking.

What is it about soup that always makes you wish you'd planned something better for lunch, but then when you eat it, you remember just how good soup is and wonder why you don't eat it more often. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I must say the cheese and bacon rolls paired particularly well with my leek and potato soup today.

Nipped up to bunnings on lunch break, half of cochrane's road is shut off as they have the crane in at Morris Moor.

And I TELL YOU THIS...it was a genuine pleasure riding back how many tailgating, illegally close passing, abuse hurling methed-out tradie shithuggers missed the goddamn detour signs and had to do painful, painful 5 point turns to go back from whence they came while I skated past the block on the footpath blowing kisses.

[–] landsharkkidd@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

I felt really weird today. Like this almost disconnect from my body. Like it feels like when I have hang overs so it's like lethargic and spaced out. Almost slow. But I took meds, and have eaten and drank water so I don't know very weird.

I also mentioned maybe a month or so ago about being worried about my dog. Everything has been okay, but today she's like breathing slowly and doesn't react to when my sister calls her. I don't know, I saw what happened to my cat, and I fear that it's happening again. She's old but it still sucks.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

I'm sorry mate gentle hug

Today's a bit of a chill and housework day. I had to go to the butcher because I ran out of time on Thursday, and made the mistake of forgetting how absolutely gigantic my preferred butchers chicken Kiev's are and ended up getting double the amount I needed which ended up at like 60 bucks 😭. I was on a bit of a time limit and didn't get to clean up my breakfast mess before I had to dash, but thankfully the roomies aren't home so nobody noticed

I've done most of the house work I need to today and the dreaded washing is just about over once I take my jacket out tof the washing machine and hang it up. So I think I get to just relax in this somewhat okay weather for the rest of the day! I'm thinking about a nap in the hammock, but I'm worried about the spider situation out there

Edit: oh actually the winds quite chilly I'm going back inside
