I know this is such a first world problem, but it can be annoying living in Australia from a travel perspective being so far away from everything.

It sure is. It still always sounds preposterous to me when people from Europe casually drop phrases like ‘went to Rome for the long weekend’ I know it’s way better than it was. For my parents generation air travel was hideously expensive, even overseas phone calls were expensive. But yeah it’s still really far. Hoping for someone to invent another supersonic jet. I reckon there be a market for it even if it was more expensive.

Imagine if we could teleport!

With my luck a fly would find it's way into the teleportation unit..

It's why our ancestors came here 🤷‍♀️🥴 Far away from war and problems.

I really don't like being so far away. 😔😢

I thought they came here cause they were convicts lol. Or they came for the goldrush.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

I read goldrush as goulash and had a "huh? Sounds alright actually" moment.

Nahh I feel the same. I wish that I could just take a day trip to another country like Europe, or like being able to go through a few states like US. But no, takes like 2 hours just to get to the CBD.

I used to take the train to so many places. I think my fave train ride was Davos to Tirano. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhaetian_Railway
