i have been cutting and keeping one of the little instructions off of boxes of food that i buy regularly fer this vary reason

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I used to be like this. But at some point, you make enough of something that you just memorize it and you only end up back here when you try something new.

In that scenario the problem for me is when I accidentally think "how was I supposed to do that?". Everything falls apart then.

I'm the quality director of a food packaging company and we have this trash can in the lab for samples we're done with but maybe not done with. We like to call it our filing cabinet. 🤣 We're always digging in that trash to check on things.

Unless you know for a fact your local recycling company is good, it truly does not matter, especially in regards to plastics or food contaminated cardboard.

[–] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 51 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I got tired of doing this so I just started to leave the box on the counter until after I've set a timer. And it gives you something else to do while your pasta or whatever cooks.

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.world 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It needs to go from hand to trash. If it goes onto the counter it's there for days.

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I just make sure the instructions are facing up when they go in the bin. Just needs a quick glance without any extra steps to distract and make you forget. (I got rid of the bin lids as my trash/recycle is usually dry and doesn't smell)

Stop spying me when I'm cooking!

That better be from the pasta region of Italy, otherwise it's just sparkling noodles.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 15 points 1 day ago

Sparkling noodles

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I keep the packaging out until I’m done.

I do the same and then forget to throw it away for a couple days

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 4 points 1 day ago

If I planned ahead I wouldn't be eating instant noodles in the first place!

[–] Backlog3231@reddthat.com 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You can learn to feel the hardness of the noodles through the spoon you use to stir them with, that's what I do. I can tell if noodles are done just by stirring them in the boiling water. Take a few out to eat to check them and you're done. Ezpz, no instructions needed.

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Of course the Ham Stroker learns to feel the hardness of a noodle ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–] telllos@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Until you cook the one where your supposed to remove the water like yakisoba or jjajangmyon. :p

[–] Backlog3231@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

No? You check the noodles while they're still cooking and drain the water after. Do you cook dried noodles without water?

[–] telllos@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some noodles are meant to be eaten in a broth, other not.

Uhm waow rood

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Could also just be shit memory.

[–] TotalFat@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

The other day, I saw an article suggesting memory might exist throughout the body and not just in the brain. I suppose your shit might contain memories. You might even call it shit memory. And after you drop a deuce, you may lose some memories. Retention takes on a whole new meaning!

[–] Martineski@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 day ago

ADHD affects working memory a lot so that checks out.

I like how the eyes goes outside the face in this comic

Obligatory comment for all of them.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

Agreed, that is my favourite feature of these

First panel should be throw it in the trash first, then realize you need the cooking instructions.

[–] ShareMySims@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Take a photo of the instructions.

When you forget to do that, look up the product online, the cooking instructions should be there.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

Happened to me more than once...
