My guess is that in order for life to survive long enough to get to the point where it becomes sapient, it has to be selfish and short-sighted, which becomes a tragically fatal hindrance.

"We're not gonna make it, are we? People, I mean."

"It's in your nature to destroy yourselves."

"Yeah. Major drag, huh?"

A vote for Trump is a big fuck-you to the establishment.

This was true in 2016, but it isn't any more. Trump IS the establishment as far as the GOP is concerned, and voters are doubly stupid for believing otherwise.

Not impossible, but very difficult. Only a handful of Lemmy posts made within the last few months have gotten that much.

Indeed. But the quote is specifically referring to religions. Applying it to anything else is disingenuous unless he ever applied it to anything else (because it is indeed a flawed premise).

It's not just the disagreement, it's the fact that there's no evidence for any of their contradicting claims.

Terrible comparison. Other than propaganda like right-wing "news," TV clearly delineates what is fiction and non-fiction. Religions all claim to be true and contradict one another.

Yes, he'd be an asshole for giving her them as a birthday present, regardless of the fact that he got her other presents as well. Just ask her if she wants them after he gets his new ones.
