Well that was fucking fast.

Full ArticleThe incoming tRump administration has announced plans to eliminate ALL health care for transgender people in this country. Originally, he had stated that all gender affirming care would be banned for anyone under the age of 18, but now he has gone far beyond that to state that he intends to sign an Executive Order on Day One to outlaw ALL care for trans people of any age, and to revoke anything that affirms our proper gender identity such as Passports. Here is his the full text of what he stated on a video released on November 7th:

β€œThe left-wing gender insanity being pushed on our children is an act of child abuse. Very simple. Here’s my plan to stop the chemical, physical, and emotional mutilation of our youth. On day one I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on gender affirming care. Ridiculous. I will sign a new executive order instructing every federal agency to cease all programs that promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age. I will then ask Congress to permanently stop federal taxpayer dollars from being used to promote or pay for these procedures, and pass a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all fifty states. It’ll go very quickly. Furthermore, I will support the creation of a private right of action for victims to sue doctors who have unforgivably performed these procedures on minor children. The Department of Justice will investigate Big Pharma, and the big hospital networks to determine whether they have deliberately covered up horrific long-term effects of sex transitions, in order to get rich at the expense of vulnerable patients. In this case, very vulnerable. I will ask Congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the United States government are male and female, and they are assigned at birth. Under my leadership, this madness will end. Thank you very much.”

I cannot in good conscience link to the video itself, but it can be found if you want to stomach it. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This ban will affect all federal funding for any gender affirming care, so that would include agencies such as Medicare, Veterans Health Administration, Department of Defense TRICARE, State Children’s Health Insurance Program, and any other programs deemed as life-saving for trans people of any age. With this being done at a Federal level, it will almost certainly encourage every Red State in the country to follow through with also banning all trans health care at their state level.

For myself, I live in California, and Gov. Newsom is working right now to build a wall against interference in health care that will be restricted by this new dictatorship, which he hopes will ensure that women and LGBTQ people will retain their care. However, for me personally, since I am on Medicare, and also on VA Health Care, all of my personal health care is administered through the Federal government. I would lose everything.

I also run a trans support group called TG Rainbow, where we work very hard to help trans people, along with our allies and families, to navigate the health care system to get the help they need in order to stay alive. We have people of all ages, from minors through the elderly. For myself, I transitioned 20 years ago, and all my documentation shows that I am, and always have been female. That includes my birth certificate, drivers license, and passport. How I will personally be affected with his ban on any Federal ID that does not reflect birth gender is hard to say at this point, but my health care will be immediately stopped if this goes through according to his master plan. Others in the midst of transition, will be prevented from moving forward, and would, in essence, be forced to de-transition. I have known people forced to de-transition before, and it has never ended well.

I also want to highlight the part of his statement which would allow β€œvictims to sue doctors” who have done any sort of trans procedure on children, including the prescribing of hormones. This will have the chilling affect on any trans-friendly doctors in the same way that doctors are now second-guessing anything they are doing for the health care of a woman who is, or even might be, pregnant. Instead of providing needed health care to keep patients alive, they are instead getting lawyers involved to make sure they keep their medical license, no matter what happens to the patients.

Dystopia will arrive on 20 January 2025.

Googled part of the quote and it’s at least as old as February 23rd, 2023:

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/all-things-trump/trump-pledges-end-federal-programs-promoting-gender-transition-if

I said in the other thread I was surprised that anyone was surprised about this. Apparently it’s been his official stance for almost 2 years.

reposted here because transenby is bugged

This wasnt a recent statement by Trump, seems Trumps statement was back in May. Article is kinda poorly written. Hopefully nothing happens, also this is gonna end up with a ton of lawsuits and delays, minimum, unless he just hires a bunch of jackbooted thugs to burn it all down. Doesnt really seem his style, but who knows whats going through his head after the attempts.

really important info, thanks. i think there's a huge difference between saying it a while ago and saying it right after winning the election

If anyone in the Midwest needs a place to get things shipped to, or a safe place to crash for a day or two, Holler at your corgi rat-salute

We love our trans comrades, and we'll all get through this Care-Comrade

I’m not sure if HRT can be banned for adults simply by means of executive order(I’m sure they can make it more difficult at the very least) but depending on what happens in the house it’s a very real possibility.

States and cities need to get on with legislation protecting trans people from this immediately

Edit: i should also mention we cannot just put our faith in local governments to combat this we need to be out in the streets for this one

[–] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 35 points 1 month ago (7 children)

This would have happened anyway regardless of who won

I don't know how true that is but it's something I keep telling myself anyway as a coping mechanism

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago (3 children)

imo it would tbh. when kamala was asked if she would do anything to protect trans people she said "we should follow the law". this was "the law" in question. having trump in office only makes it easier, they were always going to do this. kamala would have done nothing to stop it so what difference is it between trump pushing it through and kamala letting it pass? a few extra months of uncertainty?

i'm not trying to fedpost and i need to take this advice myself but america is at a point where we need to start rioting. and honestly as dumb as blompf supporters are once they start seeing that the price of shit isn't going down (especially if he actually does these tariffs) i have a feeling a lot of them are gonna have a moment of awakening and think "oh shit i was really taken for a ride wasnt i?" lots of people who are comfortable and middle class now, under trump, assuming he actually treats the economy the way it seems like his administration will, will be broke as the rest of us trying to keep their head above water in a year and a half tops (again assuming trump actually does what he says he will as far as tarriffs go, tax cuts for the rich go, gutting federal funding to schools and basically everything else we all rely on)

pretty much my exact line of thinking too, yeah

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

I'd like to think this will happen, but chuds are so incredibly hooked into Trump & the b.s. culture war nonsense and their media bubble. Honestly I'm going to doubt they're capable of realizing he's a conman.

I would love to be proven wrong though.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Kamala also sent trans women to men's prisons as ag so I don't think its open and shut kamala is better. Its all gonna be by state as normal so some will have it way worse

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 38 points 1 month ago

It would in my red state, it's not like Dems give a shit what happens out here in flyover country.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's cope. We aren't a priority for Dems, and they're generally ignoring us. We are a top priority for Republicans, and persecuting us costs them little, monetarily or politically. Under Dems, anti-trans legislation would face challenges that it won't face under a republican one. Kamala wanted to "follow the law" which means she'd basically do nothing. Status quo. So very little would've come out from the executive under her administration.

Trans people policies were one of very few key differences between Kamala and Donald.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

This is my take as well. Dems would/will ignore us and republicans actively want to hurt us.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago

I mean its ultimately gonna be by state so yeah

[–] context@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago

biden/harris and the democrats are in power right now. if they actually cared about this they could start taking measures to prevent this, and they will never do so. if they actually believed any of their perfidious campaign rhetoric, they wouldn't be peacefully handing over the reins of power to this person. the democratic leadership wants the same thing as he does, they just want to raise money from their pantomime opposition.

[–] Feline@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I really don't think it's true. I fucking hate the genocidal democrats, but the leadership was willing to go pretty far on trans rights. I say was, because they've probably taken the wrong lesson from this election. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're looking at the UK's Labour party...

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did they do anything over the last 4 years? I know some states did, but federally, it looks like they sat on their hands while M4L and other freaks did as they wished

[–] Feline@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

federally, Maintaining medicaid expansion is really important for trans healthcare. They also directed agencies to interpret Title IX as being inclusive of trans people. Also while I don't want ANYONE to join the US military, it's good when enlisted or discharged trans people can get medical care, and aren't subjected to conversion therapy

Locally, pretty much every school committee with Democrats (just typical lib democrats) have pushed back on the M4L freaks. (at least in my area, it's been very encouraging to see)

I realize it's a false solidarity with the establishment that wants queer Black and brown activists to STFU about Gaza and capitalism.

I will then ask Congress

I will support the creation of

I will ask Congress

The executive order mentioned is bad of course, but for anyone not getting healthcare through the federal government it seems like it'll have to go through Congress. Even ~~if~~ with Reps ~~take~~ taking the house they'd still need Dem votes to get past the veto in both house/Senate (surely the Dems will protect us! :clueless:) unless they use budget reconciliation, which tbh I doubt they're willing to blow their one spending reconciliation per year on this instead of inflation stuff

[–] Azarova@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

getting healthcare through the federal government

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't understand how any of this shit works. If I'm on a state healthcare plan, am I fucked if/when this goes through? Or is "healthcare through the federal government" stuff like the VA and whatnot? Obviously it's a state plan but I don't know if it relies on federal funding or anything.

[–] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

If it's employer-based insurance as a state employee, then it's unlikely to be impacted in the short term. If it's Medicaid, then I believe that the jurisprudence around the ACA and Medicaid expansion means that the federal government can't withhold Medicaid funds for a state on this sort of basis, but that's something that could change with the current court.

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Based on my layperson's knowledge, you won't be immediately fucked in the way that VA or Medicare people will be.

[–] Azarova@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Okay, that helps clear things up, thank you!

Not all races have been reported yet but Republicans have won the senate and it really looks like they're going to get a majority in the house as well.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Republicans have a trifecta in government. Assuming Senate Republicans don't nix it, the filibuster is the only check the Democrats have

[–] morte@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago

I didnt even know about this but this is absolutely terrifying. I guess i'll need to start stockpiling HRT. Fuck me i wish i had had enough time to get an orchie so i dint have to take spiro

This country is damned.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 22 points 1 month ago

Honestly fuck all the people who were acting like there's no reason to be afraid of trump.

If transition is banned I'm making arrangements. Life is hell and I refuse to live like this forever.

~~I was hoping this was a throw away line as some red meat for piglets from last year. But the bastard made an official announcement...~~

Edit: This article is in reference to the video from last year - November 7. But the writer conveniently left the date out.

[–] Yukiko@hexbear.net 20 points 1 month ago

Practice mutual aid with hormones and do what you can for your local communities. Be ready to fight. Don’t care how legit this threat is, but it’s better to be prepared than not.

[–] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The expanded malpractice liability for gender affirming care is very scary, as that could really shut down care in even "blue" states. It's also something that I think the healthcare/pharma industry would oppose vociferously, since it set precedents to expanding liability to other forms of care (like vaccinations).

[–] Ideology@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

like vaccinations

America becomes the measles capital of the world because of the vaccine autism scam.

[–] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

I am following the current COVID antivax lore correctly, all adverse health events can be attributed the vaccine.

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

jesus-christ

I'm speechless. And angry.

Notice - this article was written on the 8th, referencing a video from the 7th... The video in question was released last year on November 7. This is not a brand new announcement for what it's worth.

Also, the interpretation of the writer is that this will outlaw all trans healthcare for all ages. That's not exactly what was said - he's saying he wants to ban it in all federal programs - that being Medicare and Medicaid as well as VA and TriCare. This is effectively cutting off access for probably the majority of us, but it is not outlawing the practice (for adults). When it comes to minors, looks like that is a total ban on any medical gender affirming care.

We will likely see independent private pay clinics pop up as a result of this. But at the same time, he said this a year ago and hasn't really said much of anything since, so who knows if he'll follow through. Either way, we need to go forward as if he will.
