Bernard "Genocide Defender" Sanders strikes again

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 18 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

We thought he was Genosse Sanders, he's actually Genocide Bernard

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 28 points 4 weeks ago

Depressing. flattened-bernie was greatly influential in pulling liberals leftward, yet also serves as a block against further movement.

[–] PurrLure@hexbear.net 28 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Democrats are getting desperate. Even the most casual DSA leftists have stopped trusting every word out of Bernie's mouth for at least a year now.

Does he even use the word "genocide"? As soon as he used the worn down harm reduction argument, I tuned out.

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Did he actually say harm reduction?? That would be amazing, like he is admitting that they are doing harm and won't stop.

Like their campaign promise officially is "we aren't as harmful".

[–] PurrLure@hexbear.net 7 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (2 children)

I had to turn it off at about 1:10, the bot below has a safer link.

He basically says yeah it's bad, but Trump and friends are worse. flattened-bernie

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh I'm not watching that, thanks though 👍

seriously though there is spineless and then there's spineless while maintaining the illusion of walking upright.

[–] PurrLure@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Omg I made the mistake of watching further. He says that if Trump wins "the struggle with climate change is over" LIKE KAMALA ISN'T PRO FRACKING AND PRO INFINITE ECONOMIC GROWTH YOU FUCKING HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK shoulder-grab

Yeah no this video is ragebait for leftists and a circlejerk for libs. Do not recommend. They're out of touch if they really thought this would get them new voters.

morshupls He has never used the word genocide, except to dismiss the charge of it as it would incrimate the entire US government. Yet is careful to not mention that fact, except he does admit it is wholly complicit in what's going on there.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 27 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Does bernie support bds? Or only bibi bad politics

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 37 points 4 weeks ago

“While I do not support the BDS movement, we must defend every American’s constitutional right to engage in political activity. It is clear to me that this bill would violate Americans’ First Amendment rights.” - Bernie Sanders, 2019

[–] catonkatonk@hexbear.net 30 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I saw him answer that question by saying that he's against sanctions on principle, look at how much damage they're doing to Cuba etc. Unreal.

[–] edge@hexbear.net 24 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Even though he voted for sanctions on official bad guy countries like Russia and Venezuela.

[–] neo@hexbear.net 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Did he actually? I'm not finding record of this

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] neo@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

even in this statement

But I believe that these new sanctions could endanger the very important nuclear agreement that was signed between the United States, its partners and Iran in 2015. That is not a risk worth taking, particularly at a time of heightened tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its allies.

I'm not finding any evidence that Sanders has ever voted for a sanction in a final bill. It kind of doesn't matter anyway, because the president just unilaterally imposes sanctions, it seems.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 3 points 4 weeks ago

If he says he supports them in principle but opposes this instance, then the original comment where he says he opposes them on principle is false

[–] Feinsteins_Ghost@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago

Oh fuck off Bernard

[–] Yor@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago

continues to only disappoint. pathetic

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 22 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Damn the democrats are fucking ruthless. Can't believe they're making him film a video telling everybody else to just abandoned anything even resembling a value like he did.

That heart attack gun better be fucking real.

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

it's not, he's just a monster like the rest of them.

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 19 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (2 children)

I’d love to know how many people this actually appeals to. Are there really that many “progressives” happy to see someone who once inspired them simping for the establishment that cucked him so bad?

Although based on the YouTube comments people love this shit what-the-hell don’t read them if you don’t want psychic damage

Honestly at this point I think Bernie's currently vocal "supporters" are actually conservative Dems using him like a cudgel to guilt-trip and exploit progressive voters into moving to the right. Bernie doesn't seem to mind playing right into their strategy - maybe he doesn't know, maybe he doesn't care.

At the same time I don't think progressives are even a functional political bloc anymore which makes it all kind of funny. It's like the conservatives crossed the finish line and won the race 4 years ago, but they didn't realize it so they're still out there running all by themselves.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 4 weeks ago

Don't go on world politics comm cause they're so excited to see him saying trump will be worse everywhere

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 17 points 4 weeks ago

While it would have been funny if he had announced his unconditional support of the Al-Qassam brigades a week before the election, I guess we live in the real world where this happens instead. There shouldn't be any disappointment. We knew what his position was going to be.

[–] isthecumsafe@hexbear.net 17 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

One year ago my brother told me "European politicians are Nazis but at least Britain has Corbyn and America has Bernie." deeper-sadness

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 9 points 4 weeks ago

Corbyn at least kept his spine long-corbyn

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 8 points 4 weeks ago

One year ago? Did you just wake up from a coma?

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 16 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Why even bother trying and add salt to injury? Just ignore this issue and have the decency to tell us sweet lies like Obama did. These fucks are useless, khallas fam, khallas

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

No, bourgeois politicians should actually tell people to get fucked more often. It builds class consciousness like nothing else.

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 weeks ago

seriously, i wish he would go harder to piss more people off

[–] catonkatonk@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Did the title of the video change? I swear I saw it say "genocide" instead of "war" when I loaded YouTube this morning...

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 10 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Bernie has never acnowledged the term genocide wrt to the current situation. He knows it would lead to serious charges against just about every member of the Senate and Congress and he doesn't want to be "that guy" that gave the incriminating soundbite.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 10 points 4 weeks ago

Serious charges? In what world? Every member of Senate, and every member of Congress could sign a letter explicitly saying they love genocide and establishing a minimum quota of children killed per week and there would be no charges. Who is going to charge them? The ICC (lol)?

[–] Mantikora@hexbear.net 10 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Bernie also became demented grandad. 🤦‍♀️

[–] Hexboare@hexbear.net 8 points 4 weeks ago

Time to touch-grass on the farm upstate grandad

[–] RustyVenture@hexbear.net 5 points 4 weeks ago

agony-deep Man how much lower can this worm dig? Almost glad he never had a shot to sit on the genocide king’s throne.

Sorry people aren’t as willing to abandon their morals and fall in line for a pyrrhic political ghoul as you, Bernie.
