Maybe the next time your neighbors smoke and do meth don’t report it because that’s a snitch move I don’t care if you don’t like the smell it’s not going to kill your gosh!

If you can smell it, youre inhaling it. Close your windows or get some drafting going.

[–] Chronicon@hexbear.net 24 points 3 months ago (3 children)

how bad could it be at that level of dilution

I mean probably not ideal but opening the windows probably means letting in just as much car pollution

how bad could it be at that level of dilution

it's not just methamphetamine but also its incompletely combusted products (some of which are certainly carcinogenic) that one is inhaling when smelling these fumes

[–] Feinsteins_Ghost@hexbear.net 27 points 3 months ago

Honestly? I have no idea. Not much i reckon. But i know from having played around with it extensively once upon a time it is nothing but noxious chemicals so i cant imagine it takes exposure to much to become toxic. Six of one, half dozen of another i suppose.

homeopathic meth

It's always best not to upset tweakers. They don't need to sleep. You do.

[–] liberaldeathsquads@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Tweakers are our comrades comrade

[–] regul@hexbear.net 54 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Maybe based on pure class analysis, but there's nothing about smoking meth that makes you anti-capitalist, or anti-white supremacy.

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 3 months ago

In fact, in my area, meth is the drug of choice for white supremacists.

What does meth smell like?

[–] Chronicon@hexbear.net 18 points 3 months ago (4 children)

I've heard it described as being like burning styrofoam but I'm not sure i've smelled meth. definitely smelled people smoking fentanyl, and that one wasn't as styrofoamy iirc

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'd say fent smells plastic-y.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

Fent is often smoked off of a sheet of aluminum foil and that can give a smell along those lines. Crack smells VERY metallic, smeth smells kinda plasric-y but less...sweet I guess

Can this smell travel through shared sewage pipes? There's occasionally a smell that comes from one of our bathrooms and we reckon it's a neighbour pouring a shitload of chemicals down the toilet. Maybe it's something else like meth I don't know. It's weird though, like polystyrene.

[–] LanyrdSkynrd@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

If the buildings vent stack is operating properly smells shouldn't be coming out of the drains, no matter how much they pour down it.

If the vent stack is clogged or insufficiently sized, air could be forced up through the traps, but you'd be smelling sewer gas too. It's a really rank smell you'd notice, so I think the polysytrene smell is probably coming in some other way.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Hmmm it's not a shared building it would be a shared street connection for a row of properties before connecting into the main sewage.

[–] Spongebobsquarejuche@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

I've always likened it to shitty incense. Like some off brand nog champa.

[–] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Some fetty smells dead ass identical to burning styrofoam. Other times it tastes like chlorine (which may or may not be because it’s cut with xylazine, idfk). It’s an extremely variable drug.

Meth doesn’t have an odor unless you burn it, really.

[–] DavidGarcia@feddit.nl 14 points 3 months ago

kindly ask them to boof the meth instead

Calling the cops is for moments that you are sure the situation would be made better by someone being shot.

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 24 points 3 months ago

Yeah my bar for calling the cops is “Would this situation be improved by adding an easily frightened maniac with a gun?” which is very few situations.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 20 points 3 months ago

"Hello, police? I'd like to report a landlord."

[–] liberaldeathsquads@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I wouldn’t want their kids to lose a parent because I called the cops on their parents for smoking meth. I’m not evil. I’m a good person. I’m helping those children by not reporting it.

[–] Shinji_Ikari@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

I really feel like this is going too far on the contrarian end.

Yes foster care and care homes are bad, but I don't think one should pretend that a child growing up in a dual meth-parent household is growing up in a safe and healthy environment.

The kid could be a lot better off with a grandparent, aunt, or uncle. The shit part is you don't know until things are in motion.

That child is not in a good position and i think pretending like they are is the "own the chuds" equivalent to burning your shoes because a gay person wore a similar pair.

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Kids in homes with meth use are substantially more likely to be sexually abused, physically abused, get diseases, burns and other physical damage. Being in a meth house is not a conducive environment for being a child. Plus secondhand exposure to meth as a child is not healthy and will often result in preteens with severe liver damage.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

This is a good heuristic

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

We've discovered the only time you can humanely call cops: when you live next door to one and you need that issue taken care of

[–] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

get them an air purifier /s

[–] the_itsb@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Why did this come up? Has another neighbor reported them in the past?

meth labs can explode and cause fires; get insured

[–] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Cooking meth requires some knowledge of chemistry, and thousands of dollars worth of lab equipment and “ingredients.” Unless you can get your hands on some pseudoephedrine. Then you can make that shit in a fucking Gatorade bottle.

[–] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Someone PING ME next time there’s a thread like this lol.

[–] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Drugs don’t kill people—it’s the stigma that kills. You can get kicked out of college, lose your job, lose your housing just because you happen to be on drugs—you don’t have to do anything wrong. And then you become an unperson—you can do absolutely nothing wrong and still people spit in your face and call you a piece of shit, and somehow that’s OK.

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

I'm sorry, but I know tons of people who have died after years of alcohol abuse. The human body is not capable of sustaining years of drug abuse and drugs are 100% capable of blowing your liver out. The stigma doesn't help anyone but that doesn't make humans able to sustain years of drug abuse.
