Kurt Eisner, born on this day in 1867, was a German socialist revolutionary and radical journalist who was assassinated by a far-right nationalist while serving as head of the People's State of Bavaria.

Kurt Eisner, born to a Jewish family in Berlin, was a revolutionary German socialist, radical journalist, and theater critic. Before leading the People's State of Bavaria, he worked as a journalist in Marburg, Nuremberg, and Munich. In the early 1890s, Eisner served nine months in prison for writing an article that attacked Kaiser Wilhelm II.

In 1918, Eisner was convicted of treason for his role in inciting a strike of munitions workers. He spent nine months in Cell 70 of Stadelheim Prison, but was released during the General Amnesty in October of that year.

Following his release from prison, Eisner helped organize the revolution that overthrew the Bavarian monarchy, declaring Bavaria to be a free state and republic. Despite Eisner's socialist politics, he explicitly distanced the movement from the Bolsheviks and promised to uphold property rights.

On February 21st, 1919, while on his way to deliver his resignation to Parliament, Eisner was assassinated in Munich by a far-right German nationalist. Eisner's murder made him a martyr for left-wing causes, and a period of lawlessness in Bavaria followed his death.

On the night of April 6th-7th, 1919, communists, encouraged by the news of the communist revolution in Hungary, declared a Soviet Republic, with Ernst Toller as chief of state. The Bavarian Soviet Republic was crushed by the right-wing German Freikorps.

Some of the military leaders of the Freikorps, including Rudolf Hess and Franz Ritter von Epp, would go on to become powerful figures in the Nazi Party. Ironically, Adolf Hitler himself marched in the funeral procession for Eisner, a Jew, wearing a red armband as a display of sympathy.

"Truth is the greatest of all national possessions. A state, a people, a system which suppresses the truth or fears to publish it, deserves to collapse."

I decided to start walking about 3 miles a day in the morning. It took just over an hour. I hope it will do good in the long term. I have heard eating less and some walking can help reduce fat around the abdomen. I guess more than anything, planning and succeeding on this front is good for building self-confidence.

I just read that vampires are weak to weapons of peasants, while werewolves are weak to weapons of aristocracy. Therefore, hellfire missiles would kill werewolves, but vampires are killed by kalashnikovs. The AR-15, being a weapon of the petit bourgeois, would kill neither.

I was looking up the 4B feminist movement in Korea and one of the first things it threw up (literally) was the Asmongold subreddit complaining about misandry and speculating on whether ~~the jews~~ global elites were behind feminism. : p

Went to a gun range cause I wanted to rent a machine gun. The safety guy had a idf-cool patch on his plate carrier and the guy in the lane next to us had a shirt that said infidel on it.

Cool. Magdumping the ak was a lot of fun though.

"I don't like tomatoes they make the bread wet" MFs are terrible kissers.

They don't have the practice that only having sloppy messy makeout sessions with a beanburger that's actively falling apart can give you.

My neighbor's garage burned last night. I had a very big day full of great things and then it got punctuated with hearing a pop and minutes later seeing the light of the fire. My friends and I ran out from the yard and just, there it was. A pillar of fire consuming the garage. We were incredibly lucky that it had rained recently and that fire department showed up when they did. Like not even five more minutes and it looked like it would have caught the trees or the next house.

It was so bizarre, but weirdly human and . . . I don't really want to use positive words, but almost encouraging how the entire block came out. And everyone was just doing these very instinctual behaviors of checking with each other what had happened and what it meant and how they felt. I don't know. I feel terrible for my neighbors. They'd been friends of ours and I want to figure out something to help. At least bring them some food. They lost a lot it sounds like, even though it thankfully didn't get to the house.

I dunno. It was just really intense

Sometimes I wonder if the "cringe reddit atheist" label did more harm than good. Like, there are definitely religious people on the Internet who use that label to shut down ALL criticism of religion, even if it's relevant to the conversation at hand, and if it's a legitimate criticism.

Furthermore, many times these reddit atheists are actual teenagers, just learning atheism, and sometimes, have a good reason to be angry. Like, religious parents hanging religion over their head constantly.

the one downside of doing solo piracy and not having netflix and the others anymore is its harder to passively find slop to watch when my brain is droopy, have to be more intentional about hunting stuff down for my library

It seems like "the iPad Pro is my main computer" types are delusional cultists on par with Tesla owners. You're using a blown-up smartphone and trying to make yourself believe it's a laptop. It's not even cheaper. They make MacBooks for the same price

The "congratulations" scene at the very end of Neon Genesis Evangelion has made me cry, and really reached me in a time when I felt absolutely no self worth or purpose. It's probably the single scene that has had the most effect on me ever. But it's also objectively so stupid. It's so fucking goofy I can never take it seriously when I see it out of context. Hilarious way to end your show.

There is too much stuff. Too many books, movies, albums, games and TV shows that I want to check out.

I propose humanity should collectively take a break for a year without creating new stuff so that I can catch up on everything. No more news or history while we're at it. Everybody just take the grillpill for one year.

Unpopular opinion: Stardew Valley is fucking dogshit. So much of the game is gated behind its combat system. And its combat system is fucking dogshit.

Why does a farming simulator need a combat system? Because it's fucking dogshit.

Why does buying a fruit tree have to be locked behind grinding combat? Because it's fucking dogshit.

why do meteorologists use dumb, nondescriptive terms like "el nino" and "la nina" to describe weather patterns? "oh it's little boy season, that means it'll be rainy or some shit". statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged.

So, EU 5 is gonna be real sometime in the "near" future, huh? Anybody else excited for 'Project Caesar'? I'm really looking forward to consequntial wars for the economy aspect. It was always very ahistorical how any 1500's country could field a permanent standing army numbering tens-of-thousands with seemingly no issue. Now that those pops are needed toiling away for m'lord you-are-a-serf , sending them out to die is gonna be an overall bad idea unless victory is assured. Really, a more civic centered EU game is very appealing.

Royalroad slop review: Be Gay Do Crime drew me in with its title. It's the story of a trans girl in an alternate slightly more fascist current day Florida. She survives an attempted abduction by a fascist street gang thanks to the help of a cool crime lesbian, and is both attracted to her savior and eager to stop the fascist abduction gang. She is gradually radicalized into an antifascist partisan. Strangely, however, the author's notes seem to suggest the author believes she is instead "corrupted" into a "criminal."

A silly lib cartoon about Trump. It made me laugh. What can I say?

And it would be much better if it was just one panel but libs wouldn't like it at all. Trump says something like "Stop Aurora Borealis from testifying."

I think emojis are my autistic special interest. I love looking at emojis, and researching what meanings people ascribe to emojis in certain contexts, and looking up what new emojis they'll add, and making little pictographic stories with emojis. Emojis are neat and it kind of pairs with my font obsession I've had since I was a kid just downloading new fonts to look at and not even install sometimes because I just liked looking at them.

Feels like not a week goes by without me wondering if the people at my company remember things, or like, think. You've been working here longer than me, how can you be asking me how to fix something I have nothing to do with. Why are you not asking the people you have to talk to about that thing every 2 days. Whyyyy

sold the last of my GME over a week ago to pay off my credit card after i used it to pay rent which i shouldn't have had to do (family friend who helps with rent for me and my arthritic mom just decided not to help last month).

guess which stock surged 238% in the past five days

i want to die

yeah yeah time in the market beats timing the market, and given when i bought in during 2021 my total loss/gain might still even be positive. it's just another kick in the teeth and it feels like the world is telling me not to bother trying anymore. i did the responsible thing and it blew up in my face
