This kind of applies for Far Cry 5, in the region in the bottom left of the map progressing enough will have kidnapped and brought to a bunker which you have to escape. You lose everything you have on you, while you can get your guns back you have purchase all grenades and ammo again which costs a lot.
It applies also to the whole story of Far Cry 5. I don't think any other video game ending made me that angry.
Yeah, I stopped playing the game about halfway through as I saw what was coming, looked it up to verify and never bothered finishing it. The entire game is about taking away player agency. Not even the character's agency, but you the player. Everything you do is for nothing and the story is a gigantic middle finger to everything you hoped to achieve. I won by not accepting that outcome and uninstalling.
God that fucking ruined that game.. stupid asf game mechanic !!
This applies to pretty much every Far Cry game. I don't remember if the first one does it, but from Far Cry 2 and onward, they all do it. I love the Far Cry series but I dread the mission that yoinks all my weapons away and then I have to manually add them all back later.
I loved 3, never finished 4, loved 5. Should I get 6?
FWIW, vanilla FC6 is only $11 in their current sale, at least in the US shop. I just picked it up last night.
(I also grabbed Watch_Dogs 3 for $6.)
The first game definitely does it. At one point, you are kicked out of a heli, only with an M16 and 2/3rds of a mag, right in front of one mutant ninja monkey thingy.
This happens like 20 times in Far Cry 5 lmao
that's why i dropped that game, especially after getting kidnapped by the cannibal who drug you to kill your friends.
When i realised that I really felt like my progression didn't fucking matter. The kidnapping sequence became absurd because the more you resist kidnapping squads the more powerful ennemies pops out of nowhere while the game make it so that you die of a single bullet.
Even with that I was crushing them so hard the game basically shut me down and killed me instantly to trigger the event
Literally one of 2 reasons my wife and I dropped that game half way through. The other was no cross progression for coop. What a fucking stupid mechanic. Flying in a plane, on our way to collect some goodies? Somehow some fucker knocks us out. The first 2 times we got ambushed we were in a well defended area, thinking we got this. Hate that game so much now
Yeah, i wont pay another Far Cry. The forced story is just too much.
Far cry 5 is my favorite Far Cry but that's entirely because I modded out everything I hated, made it much more replayable, and tightened some of the gunplay elements.
That whole being knocked out to progress the story thing is one of the most shittiest implemented mechanics I have ever seen in a game.
The fact that it can happen to you no matter what you're doing and doesn't even let you finish objectives you may be in the middles of is so frustrating.
The funny thing is, the reason, according to Ubisoft why the game has no progression for the co-op partner, only the host, so they can "experience their own unique journey".
Good lord that's a stupid reason.
Getting knocked out is annoying, extremely so as you can't avoid it anyway, you hit that cap and YOU WILL get kidnapped no matter what.
As a free roam game, just derping around, especially so with a friend is actually really fun, but good lord does the game want you to not do that.
even when ubisoft makes a good game they have to go and ubisoft it up. what a terrible company. i wouldn't dare put that shit on my resume
I absolutely hated Far Cry 5. To the point I quit playing them. I hated all the forced mission progression because exploring an open world is awesome. Taking that away just was never fun.
