World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I was in grade school during 9/11. What rights did you lose out on because of covid?
All of them. Literally all of them, as you lost many thanks to the reactionary assholes after 9/11 who demanded the near-complete dismantling of the 4th amendment to make themselves feel safe from their Muslim neighbors.
Shit rolls downhill.
Re-read what the comment you replied to is asking.
Read what I'm saying and then talk. Or just parrot pro-lockdown talking points you let yourself get brainwashed with so I know to ignore you. Your choice
Still haven't answered their question. Disregard 9/11. What rights has COVID taken away? "All of them" is not an acceptable answer, be specific.
They didn't ask a question, they said "Re-read what the comment you replied to is asking." When they're the one who lacks reading comprehension.
But you sure prove my point that you destroyed the United States of America because you chose fear over hope and courage in the face of tragedy and don't give a damn about the consequences of your actions or the lives you destroyed. You prove it real well.
You still haven't answered my question. What rights did you explicitly lose because of covid?
Yeah, it's obvious you're not responding in good faith, but there's nothing more to expect than that from someone who helped erode human rights around the globe to assuage their own feelings and thinks they did nothing wrong.
What are you talking about here? This entire time you've been accusing me of somehow eroding everyone's rights, you've yet to tell me how and by which measures I've done this mind you, and yet I'm the one responding in bad faith?
