From my time on Lemmy. There seems to be a lot of American propaganda on here from people.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I see a lot of Chinese propaganda as well

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And Russian and North Korea for some reason

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The amount of people here who will try to convince you that NK is some sort of paradise here is insane.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

NK is some sort of paradise

The bar for "paradise" is so low. Just living in a country where you don't have chronic homelessness, endless war, and rampant medical bankruptcy seems to qualify.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago

This is exactly the shit I was talking about.

North Korea has been in a war since it was created.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They've had a cessation of hostilities since 1953.

The Panmunjom Declaration, signed in 2018 by Kim Jung Un and Moon Jae-in even began the process of reunification.

If only every war was this peaceful.

The DPRK later called off talks with South Korea scheduled for 16 May, blaming U.S.–South Korean military exercises…

From your source.

Do you think actual sponsored accounts/bots or just indoctrinated people?

[–] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

100% just indoctrinated people, lemmy is too small to catch anyone's attention.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You tend to have very extreme views, which sometimes get heavily downvoted. It’s convenient for you to blame that on “American indoctrination.”

And as you say, Lemmy is too small. So maybe it’s just that a lot of people here do not agree with your views.

Even for people, who are not Leninist/Stalinist or similar, it is noticeable.

From my perspective (being not from the US) us-american arrogance is very present on lemmy.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 3 points 6 days ago

us-american arrogance is very present ~~on lemmy~~ literally everywhere.

ftfy

[–] Rookwood@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Both, but there was definitely blatant astroturfing after Biden withdrew and Kamala became the nominee.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think we just have a surprising amount of political staffers in Lemmy. The bulk does seem to be wealthy people living in suburbs. Look at how the biggest groups are people self hosting thousands and thousands of dollars of equipment.

[–] Rookwood@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Surprising amount of political staffers... As if that is a class of people. Those people are normies and not tech savvy. They're all workaholics too so most of them probably only used LinkedIn for social media.

Your idea that people who self-host somehow equals political staffers is just asinine. There's literally no overlap.

[–] nicknonya@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i really doubt any major organizations are paying for bots, at least not on lemmy. we're just not big enough methinks
if there are any it's probably a smaller operation done by a few people max.

[–] Acinonyx@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 week ago

yeah but there's tankies too, so it cancels out
