I have been girlshopping for the past... maybe two or three hours? And my god everything is expensive, small, and/or poorly made. At first I was just adding stuff to the list, but after looking deeper at the reviews a lot of it is cheap garbage that won't even fit me right. I need to re-evaluate and pick the handful of things I want most I guess. Why is being a girl so expensive.
Don't sleep on the cheap stuff. Having cheap stuff isn't bad because you don't feel bad if you toss it.
Right now, you don't have any idea what looks good on you (I'm guessing you're not going into stores and trying stuff on). If you buy something expensive and it looks like shit when you try it on, it's gonna hurt.
You can use cheap stuff to find out what type of clothes you like, then you can spend money on fancier stuff of the same type.
PS glad you're shopping!
PSS fishnets are cheap, fit everyone, and I know you want them ๐
Okay, yeah, but you feel less bad than if it's expensive.
Obviously, you shouldn't be tossing anything, but when you're trans and in the closet, you're gonna buy shit that doesn't fit because it's all online.
I should have said donate instead of toss
Yup. I'm incredibly lucky that I have a wife who can try on clothes for me and make a guess as to whether it will fit me. Much more accurate than online
Nooo :cri: I will cry if things don't fit me.
for sure, women's clothing is made incredibly poorly. thrift shops are a good way to circumvent that but you have to publicly shop and they're getting less cheap. also, i read that as girls-hopping
I have princess skin (only silk, >95% cotton, linen or I scratch myself to death) and the struggle is real
I didn't think of that, I wonder how my skin softening will affect that. At least that's a future problem, I suppose.
I am not even on E yet
They also make girls clothes out of the weirdest materials known to humankind, thin, sheer, slippery or scratchy. It's cute, just why does it cost so much more for so much less material???
YES! If its going to be so expensive it should at least be good quality. Clearly more research is needed
Idk if it helps, but a lot of the stuff I got thrifting a decade ago is still intact. You can get good stuff.
I really hope that's the case for what I end up with, I'd really like to keep it forever. Need to do a lot of review checking I guess.
Find out what's good, fwiw I have the highest attrition rate on tops, which are hard to find good. I recommend thrifting a lot though, some of my best clothes were cheap at a thrift.
:yea: I basically have no hope for getting a top that makes me feel happy, I've thought about not getting because budget and I don't think it'd look good.
Hopefully I can go at some point, unfortunately it'll have to be alone so that makes things worse but :shrug-outta-hecks: I guess what can I do.
You'll fit tops better on hormones, trust me it's rad. I have really long arms too and sometimes they're tight around the bra band, but it's not impossible. Fwiw when I shop around I always see like XL-3XL sizes of tops on the rack, so if you need larger sizes (as many women do) you shouldn't be fully SOL.
You legit need someone from bearsite to take you shopping!!!
I'm sure I will, god I need hormones. Hopefully they fit, I usually wear a men's large so... Yaknow. I don't know how that scales though. I think it's mostly the no hormones thing I'm worried about, as far as fitting goes.
I actually do :cat-trans: it makes me a little sad you and Seryph aren't nearby :kitty-cri: not sure about anyone who lives near me. Might end up being a day trip (which would be pretty cool). But yea once I'm in a position to I'll have to check around.
Keep lookin forward to em!! โจ Yeah a men's L is not that big, you should be okay to wear a women's XL. Also though "womens" sizing is such bullshit, y'know? And yeah it'll be tougher if you have like, a ton of muscle mass from testosterone up top, sucks for the moment...
Nerd Yeah it's lame, I know fedposting but shopping can be fun... tfw no hexbear daytrip meetup...
That's crazy, I was expecting way worse. I could be a xl woman.
Yea, it's not a great feeling :kitty-cri:
You're gonna make it
:meow-hug: thank you. I really need to.
