Yes, exactly. Healthcare via taxation can be viewed as a some sort of public insurance. The problem there is that the level of resources needed has to be decided manually instead of letting the markets handle it "magically".

What is confusing to me is why would it matter to Putin if Trump lied here? The Russian mode of government is lying and deception after all.

Does he actually think that his voters want Ukraine to lose? Oh fuck, do his voters actually want Ukraine to lose?

Where do you find Insurance like this?

Literally all the insurances are like this. If yours isn't, why are you paying for it?

I broke my arm last year here in Finland. I think the whole bill for an overnight stay and surgery and all the medications was… around 50 euros.

Finland is famously having major problems with public healthcare currently because the costs versus clients relation is too low.

Healthcare provided publically can be thought of as nonprofit insurance.

If you live long enough, it will be costly.

This is why if you start paying for a healthcare insurance at an older age, your premiums will be higher. They are pretty good with the math there, and it's not even very advanced math.

Pooling everybody's money so that the ones who are unfortunate get money to help with their situation definitely is a product. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Trump also ordered the Pentagon, against Mattis’s recommendation, to come up with a plan to withdraw approximately half of the American troops deployed to Afghanistan, a move that military officials have warned could plunge the nation into chaos.

via https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-announces-mattis-will-leave-as-defense-secretary-at-the-end-of-february/2018/12/20/e1a846ee-e147-11e8-ab2c-b31dcd53ca6b_story.html

Mattis even resigned due to not being able to comply with Trump's idiotic plans.

I guess it's possible that Biden could have just scrapped the whole plan and do something else. But most of the damage was already done by then.

My iPhone is repairable and supported until 2028. And because Apple is refusing to make more mid-size phones, I will be using this one until 2028 at minimum.

You seem to imply that to use a fairphone means using a phone you don't like

I tried Pop!_OS alpha1 with Cosmic Desktop and I even if the general software quality is still what you might expect from the first alpha release, I was impressed on the high-level design decisions they made with Cosmic. As a sway user who would like a bit more structure and hand-holding in my desktop, I think I'm gonna like Cosmic in a year's time.
