Run optimization.
Because I genuinely enjoy the game.
Because certain games take longer than others and I'd rather just run through something short, especially when I have too much shit going on in life to keep up with a larger game.
Because I don't give a shit about the story and knowing it ahead of time does not change my experience.
Because sometimes it's more comfortable to re-run through something that I know, than starting something new that I don't, especially when I'm sick / fucked up / have other shit going on.
Because I want to.

Animal Crossing, Guardian Legend, Mario 2, Mario 3, Mario World, Super Metroid, La Mulana (except for the bosses).

Guardian Legend, but with Zelda-style puzzles in the overworld sections and Metroidvania progression mechanics.

So shmup / action/adventure / search-action hybrid I guess.
