An open world survival, where your objective isn't just to survive or complete contrived quests. You have a main general objective, eg: escape, defeat evil overlords, etc. This main objective compels you to build/explore/fight. But how you ultimately succeed, has not been pre-ordained by the dev's, you use your own wits and the sandbox world to succeed.

Probably something completely unoriginal.

Super weird concept and I have no clue how it would actually work, but a city-building/ARPG hybrid would be what id love to develop someday

Bubble shooter

Make it to where you can't pay to win. You have to work your way up and unlock features.

I'd love an open world adventure sorta game which would be highly interactive! As a kis, always thought of making such a game based in my town or a replica of the entire actual world!

Turnbased, dialog heavy, isometric rpg. But placed in a modern (or slightly cyberpunk) world. Like a mix between Baldurs Gate 2 and xcom (without BG3's focus on object interaction and creative problem solving).

I've wanted to make this since the D20 Modern rulebooks was released. Haven't managed it yet, two decades later. I suck.

A soulslike friendship simulator!!

Imagine fighting for dear life, barely surviving, then hanging out with your friends over some pizza afterward. Except you're an introvert so that wouldn't happen irl.

First person hack&slay with lots of verticality and lots of room to experiment with spells and physics like in Dark Messiah and Dishonored but cranked up to 11. Also put something in to make the enemies a bit more interesting, like monsters raiding the hub town like in Din's Curse or something like the Nemeses from shadow of Mordor.

A isometric soulslike-roguelike: think Vampire Survivors/Halls of Torment with Dark Souls Mobs and Bosses with Dark Souls maps and boss arenas overall theme and Music. Gear system from halls of Torment with Dark Souls iconic weapons and an RPG stat leveling system with Souls so that deviates from existing Random Card style approaches (no need for sudo gacha). Vendors found in various stages which have secret areas and mimic chests as well as gates to open to access boss arenas (these stay open on successive attempts (optional) so their is progression if you want). Would also need Blocking that interrupts auto attack and a parry system accessible depending on your equipment e.g. parry knife in one hand or shield equipped. Option to leave a stage at the cost of half your Souls (or all or lose equipment not sure which is the best option). Vast hordes of mobs to slay with traps and Lore which already exists in the universe to draw on.

Driveclub 2

I'd basically recreate Urban Chaos Riot Response, but with more weapons and more gore.

If i had no limitations, like budget, skill, time, etc.

Open world rpg of a time traveler who blips through time, like one act could be roman empire, one could be the ottomans, one could be prehistoric, one could be like ancient china, etc. its educational while still having a thrilling story and fast paced gameplay

im not going too in depth because ive always wanted something like this and im not going to have someone steal the idea

[–] mapman122@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

first person shooter or a turn based strategy

[–] LordofDsnuts@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I would make a JRPG for a popular anime IP. I'm tired of the generic area battlers and would like an open world to explore (think Naruto storm story mode, but bigger and longer).

[–] redundantposts@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If I could create something like old school RuneScape with the multitude of skills, time investment, and social aspect, but with the graphics and other qualities from games like elder scrolls online (one of my favorites) where there were dungeons and trials/raids you could do with the comprehensive zones and cities…. I’d never NOT play the game.

[–] lordkuri@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

A science based 100% dragon MMO, but I don't know if maybe that's already been done before /s

[–] Kinetoa@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

The bones of WoW have always felt so good, I have always hoped for a lift-and-shift to other IP's.

Space, Samurai, Cowboys, Vikings, Romans, etc.

[–] Godess_Ilias@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

system shock 2 remake with the system shock 1 remake requirements

Big Anime Tiddies

[–] CatGaming346@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

A huge survival game but like really realistic and mmo. I've wanted to make this for a long time.

[–] eat_like_snake@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Guardian Legend, but with Zelda-style puzzles in the overworld sections and Metroidvania progression mechanics.

So shmup / action/adventure / search-action hybrid I guess.

[–] jptester@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Visual novel... I'm already working on it

[–] Teleskopy@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

RPG. Hundreds of quests. No quest log, no map. You have to actually listen to dialogue. Your choices make a huge difference. Basically a hardcore DnD game.

[–] SolidCroft@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Fantasy shortstack dating game or space station management sim game

An bleach game where you can create your own zanpakuto and it's abilities, before being assigned to a division of your choice, you fight through the main and side stories along side ichigo's friends and the gotei 13, as you level up and meet new characters some of them would offer advice and some will train you, based on your gender you could have a relationship with canonical male/female characters who doesn't already have a canonical relationship, and at the end of the thousand year blood war there are two outcomes i think i would write, outcome one your character dies trying to stop yhwach and the character who you are dating visits your character's grave and reminisce before leaving after a while, the second outcome is that your character depending on your level of friendship with aizen worked with him as he didn't show you kyoka suigetsu and you both help slow him down, in the end your character is majorly harmed and on the brink of death afterwards and isane was forced to put the character into a coma to recover completely but memory loss, might be in first person or third person, a lot of side quests for currency and missions to boost experience, your character can take the canonical character on small dates here and there when they are free, spending time with your zanpaktou spirit learning shikai and bankai, training with kido up to 99 with easier spells being easier and harder spells being harder to learn and master
