How are so many sites OK with using cloudflare when they are basically a MITM? in c/main@selfhosted.forum

Honestly what I don’t understand is why some on this sub have such strong objections to Cloudflare.

I am concerned about them being a technical SPOF for much of the internet, and there is the possibility that some hitherto unknown long-term persistent data gathering infiltration is able to sweep up a massive amount of information. And maybe they will turn malicious? Who can say? There's plenty of precedent. How long between when it happens and when we find out?

Once the US decided to hollow out its manufacturing sector, everyone does business with China at some level. It's virtually impossible not to.

A US virtual number just doesn't cut it in c/digitalnomad@expats.zone

I have one with a US SIM card that has an international plan. It's USD$20/month with Simple Mobile. I can't place or make calls.

You could switch to Tello and get that down to $5.
