Other than these fine books I can really recommend "How Westminster Works and Why it doesn't" by Ian Dunt. It's an audio book on Spotify so super easy to digest.

Our politics is a broken joke and Dunt's book really drills into the reasons.

Sure the Coronavirus. Not the other reason the BBC can't talk about.

An explosive being used to cause serious damage to property in order to "influence a government" is terrorism under the Terrorism Act. This is a leopards eating face moment for those who thought these laws would only apply to brown people.

Israel is a rogue state. It is a disgrace for us to be supporting them.

Seriously, even the most unhinged right wing populists in Europe won't touch leaving the EU. It's killed off that reactionary idea for good.

Stagflation nation.

He wasn't solely elected on that. His manifesto contained dozens of incoherent contradictory promises. He's a populist and says whatever will get him elected. The fact is that local residents have repeatedly said they want the traffic calming measures to stay and Rahman who claims to be a "listening mayor" is doing the complete opposite. This is culture war posturing and nothing else.

I think everyone who supported it has to die first.

To wit:

People still defend the Iraq war

Nobody defends the invasion of Suez.

This is from the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act

154(4A)

A person is guilty of an offence if, with intent to cause a person harassment, alarm or distress, he— (a)uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or (b)displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, thereby causing that or another person harassment, alarm or distress.

It's so sweeping virtually anything bad tempered said in public can get you arrested.

It's an insanely authoritarian law.
