"Alright Greta, you've built up enough of a legitimate image with the Palestine stuff, time to get back to work"

From what I was explained by former cadre, there is an established leadership and an appointed majority who control things which average cadre are not really involved with and do not vote for, and who's strategies have not really changed for a very long time. When these average cadre see similar issues, they end up asking similar questions, which becomes pushing for similar answers and being rebuffed in similar ways. Whether it is asking about how to change organizational structure to properly hold abusers accountable because of actual cases of abuses, asking about why pursuing an electoral strategy has been absorbing so many resources of the org and there are virtually no mass programs nor interaction with "the masses" outside of going to protests (arguably not the masses), or even pushing to do specific types of organizational work that cadre see as valuable and missing and are willing to put work into , these things aren't up for discussion openly among the cadre even behind closed doors.
I was happy to see PSL did update their electoral strategy with new candidates who seem great and their media arm has been doing well, hopefully they keep improving.
I enjoy most of their content and most of them seem like fun and cool people as far as people go, Grant being one of my least favorite for several reasons but still funny sometimes. I think it is less a "leftist for clout" situation at the outset and more like what most radlibs (dem socs, anarchists especially) do which is sincerely want a better world but have a very surface level of theoretical development and will not prioritize that over developing a career and becoming a stable beneficiary of imperialism treat enjoyer. I have high hopes for Beardsley to be the vanguard of dropout employees but I think it is more likely that dropout's continued success will lead them all in the direction of $$
and tbh I am harsh and think calling to vote for kamala is cringe but its a pretty standard and typical position in this country and it isn't surprising that publicly these up and coming celebrities would want to seem like "normal progressives" even if they have deeper more revolutionary desire, hopefully that is the case but I have a lot of doubt about that
I personally have organized with multiple people from different chapters of PSL who were abused for being trans or brought complaints about being preyed on by people in their chapter and in each instance they were essentially pushed out of the org and the person they were abused by remained. Over two dozen members of the chapter I used to be affiliated with locally left over an issue like this happening to someone and then finding out that they are not a dem cent org and there is no internal mechanisms for solving these issues.
If PSL is all that you have available, I'd still say go for it, and just be aware of these problems and try to be a good communist in combating liberalism and defending comrades from harm.
I had high hopes for him and do love his work but yeah he definitely could do better to embody the characters he is very good at writing and portraying. Although he is now a parent and is becoming progressively more wealthy through a career in Hollywood so it is much more likely that his trajectory will trend the other way
Yeah Beardsley getting arrested and also not promoting voting stuff is why I excluded them but giving money to charity and being pro-labor can easily be lib positions in the current climate. Giving money to Palestinian charities and then saying vote for Kamala is not even radlib, its just lib
Outside of Ally Beardsley who I have not seen promote voting for Kamala or taking part in fundraisers and phone banking for Kamala, the rest of them are at most on the LA DSA mailing list and otherwise just make more and more money in Hollywood and get hired into more and more Hollywood jobs. Even Brennan was just promoting voting on his stories yesterday, these are the "free Gaza, vote Kamala" types of libs who want the aesthetics of leftism as a virtue signal and marketing tactic. I follow a lot of them and have been seeing all the cringe most of them have been posting
Nah the most political any of them are is LA DSA mailing lists (not actively organizing) except Ally Beardsley maybe. Even Brennan just posted all these stories yesterday about how to vote and why it is important etc etc. They are making a lot of money in Hollywood now, they want to use the aesthetics of leftism to virtue signal but they are the type of libs who say free gaza and they vote for the person doing the genocide because cheeto man bad
Time for them to go back to work and forget about the labor movement for another decade
They make fun content at Dropout but lord are they the ultimate radlibs
Tech people are the worst at believing their specialized knowledge of one tech field makes them experts in all fields, including history, economics, and branches of science mostly unrelated to their own.
Honestly an important example for communism being anti-religious. This idea gets thrown around a lot as if it means communists will oppress you for being a Christian or something, but they don't mention that there were fucking geomancers and mud idolatry cults taking people's income to throw in the river to get a blessing and not die from drinking dirty water. This is still a huge issue all around the world, like in India with the Brahmin mafia needing to get cut in on everything that happens in society to just burn some incense and say some words or else everyone will be punished by this god or that god, or the so-called Hyenas in Malawi who are hired to sleep with kids after their first menstruation in order to "cleanse" them, or the Catholic church for, well everything they've done. It makes sense that communists would fight these things, and they are religious things, but it doesn't have to mean that a communist must be anti-religious to fight specific examples of abuse from metaphysical thinking that they see around them.
