Clean your apartment, don't leave food around and you won't see many roaches.
I've lived in Asia for years and I rarely saw roaches

Yes it's still worth it but the market is saturating very fast for junior positions. AI is replacing those jobs and unless you're senior you'll have a harder time to get hired compared to 5 years ago.
Anyway I suggest either software development, data engineering or machine learning/AI. Machine learning/AI/Deep Learning is probably the safest one because the demand in the future will be extremely high but it's also the hardest one among the three.
Yes indeed if you live in a big condo, your apartment can have roaches, even if it's clean, if other tenants keep theirs dirty. It happened to me in Gramercy Residence in Manila for example, the receptionist told me they routinely spray the entire building but if people keep their apartments dirty, roaches and other insects eventually return.
So, in big condos, especially if not new, you can find roaches even if you're clean. But despite this, I rarely found them...maybe I got lucky.
If somebody is very scared by roaches, he/she can spray the perimeter of his apartment with an anti-roaches spray so they don't get scared
