In addition, if a user subscribes to a Feddit UK community the comments from before they subbed won't appear unless they're loaded directly by a user on that instance

If you start a community, post it at !newcommunities@lemmy.world as it will get the word out and help drag the community across to other instances.

That is how federation works (sadly), posts are only shared to other instances if someone from that instance visited those communities first.

Nods this is why when talking about communities. It is best to think of them the same way you do email addresses. check !feddituk is as useless as email bob. !feddituk@feddit.uk will allow folks to search no matter where they are.

I use Lemmy and made a post to a Feddit community. I can see the post, but it says there are much more comments than I can actually see. Could this be something to do with that?...
