RDR2. Not sure why I can’t get into it.

The first couple hours are beautiful and cinematic, but it's a brutal gameplay introduction.
When you walk into one of the cabins and spot a can of peaches on a shelf you can loot, you fumble your way overthere, awkwardly bumping into every object and having to pan the camera around half a dozen times to figure out there's a table leg in the way. You finally get close enough to highlight the item and select to loot it. Arthur shuffles a little, walks up, stops, turns around, does a 180 and walks up to it again, stops, reaches out, picks up the can, makes a gruff "Hrm.....", opens up his bag, puts the can in his bag, turns around and shuffles a little to the left while one foot stands on something invisible.
You then turn the camera around and see 5 more cans of peaches.
It’s so slow. I forced myself to play it but as the game went on I loved it
Most of the Assassin's Creed games
Blasphemous and Darkwood
starfield. I sweared im gonna play it but after I realized there are no "aliens" in starfield which is literally space opera like I got demotivated as hell. when I found out how shallow and boring this game is, I don't regret my decision even more
Expected to really get lost in that game. Was excited. Ended up severely disappointed
TIL there are no aliens. Didn't need another reason to wait for mods yet here we are
No intelligent aliens. Lots of alien wildlife.
It's a bit ironic that there are more aliens in fallout than there are in Starfield. They could at least have added an alien Easter egg or something.
I’m honestly gonna tell you to try it. I played for 50 hours and I was done, but it’s not bad.
Only reason I say to try it (on gamepass) is to at least say you’ve tried it so if you want to hate on it you have the right. It’s a good game made wrong.
With that said, yes there are aliens
Darkwood and the pathless
Disco Elysium. I would love to play it and i bought it but not sure when i'll get the mood to read all that text
Same for me.
I have been meaning to play Disco Elysium but I always get overwhelmed by the choices and the character creation. I don't replay games so I keep thinking I will do a perfect run one day.
Controversial but: The Witcher 3
I still have Witcher 1/2 to play but man, whenever I start the first game I lose interest in around 2hours.. Tried it like 4 times now and I'll prob try again next month because I really liked the books..
Its good except for the main story.
A bit batman-y in its quest design owed to the gaming trends at the time.
Oh shoot.. that’s a shame if the main story isn’t super good. Would you recommend it still?
Xenoblade Definitive Edition, Days Gone and Golf Story.
Forbidden West. Octopath Traveler.
The Batman Arkham games.
MGS5. I've had the game for years and I'll play the game once all the previous games are on PC. Doesn't look promising for MGS4.
Mirrors edge, I keep meaning too and never seem to find the right time to start
It's relatively short, but visually stunning and the gameplay is fluid. Mirror's Edge (the first one) has a spot in my heart.
Hitman series. I played first version and I hate it so i won't play the rest.
The Surge/Mortal Shell.
Recently got into Soulslikes but I seem very picky. Nothing "feels" quite as good as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro, etc.
Surge just feels to "floaty" like there's no weight to yout attacks, whereas Mortal Shell feels fantas but I find the world/lore dreadfully boring.
The new Spider-man
Growing up i fucking loved the PS2 Spider-man game based on Raimis 2nd movie, such good web slinging and combat
these new games are even better about it but for whatever reason i just can’t get into it
After 30 years of gaming, I've recently chosen to ignore the remainder of my backlog. Whatever I've bought, but haven't played up until this point, probably isn't worth the time. Only favorites and unreleased titles from this point on.
In an attempt to work through my backlog I categorized my steam library into
Played
Not played
Completed
Infinity-Games
Not-Feeling it
- Played/not Played can be handled by steam automatically.
No recorded playtime is the "not played" category.
Any amount of playtime is the played category.
Games I Completed at least once are moved to the completed category manually by me.
Games I thought I might like but ended up not liking are in the "not feeling it" group (also the ones I got through Bundles but never wanted get placed here)
Infinity-games are games with no clear end like chess & Party Games or games where the Grind is the game like Monster Hunter.
Games that remain in the played category are games I intend to finish one day or haven't made up my mind about them yet.
Games that I haven't played are the ones I have to try out still to see if they belong in the "not feeling it" category
By using groups I can reduce my backlog systematically giving every title a fair chance first and avoid forcing myself to play games that I end up not liking.
Elden Ring
For a decade it was Skyrim. It never clicked. It was too much like new Bethesda games. I tried to get into it but kept dropping it after an hour.
Then came along Nolvus Ascension.
Holy hell now I’m playing Skyrim like it’s a slightly janky next gen monster of a game.
I’ve never heard of this
Stray,i have it downloaded and played abit butbi jst never played it again, every time i consider playing i jst end up say "naaah i ll play it later" and play smthn else
Half life 2. I swear I'll get to it I promise
That was me also since it launched. I got a steamdeck and decided to launch half life 2 on it and didn’t turn it off until I beat the game. I regret not doing so earlier
NieR:Automata. My friends keep promising me themes that I know I will absolutely love, and I've managed to stay mostly blind on the story so far, but every time I consider playing it I just go '...nah, not now. Later for sure, though.', and I have for the past several years.
That game is fucken amazing
I actually beat the game once. But I don't get the hype around it. I know there are like 9 endings but I wasn't impressed enough to play through again.
That Rick and morty shooting game, I can’t even remember what it’s called but got it with all the hype and it’s just sat collecting dust
Persona 3 and 4 after I played 5 and 5 royal.
Persona 3 is getting a remake to be more like 5 and I will get to it... eventually. Just have to set aside 80 hours or so per game.
The new Underrail dlc
Hades and Devil May Cry 5
I finished that game pretty quickly. Loved stealth games
Mankind Divided was in my backlog for years too, lol. I finally restarted my game and got around to playing it just a few months ago, and I highly recommend going back to it. I forgot how much I love playing Deus Ex games (especially going back with much better hardware). There's a bunch of hoopla about it being half a game, but it tells a complete arc IMO, even if it's got tons of sequel hooks left for future games.
For me it's probably all the PS4 greats like Horizon, GoW2018, and RDR2. Not to mention the sequels lol.
Nioh 2. I think I got Nioh for free at some point after Nioh 2 had already released. After 50 hours into it I purchased the sequel because it was so good. After 120 hours I still hadn't finished the game because I'm a completionist and have to do all the side quests. Then something else came out that I wanted to play so I took a break. That was a couple years ago and I just haven't felt like relearning it. It didn't help that the mouse and keyboard controls were terrible, but I can't play third or first person games with a controller. Wo Long was the latest game by the dev that I tried and it also suffered from terrible controls and I gave up on it after 10 hours.
I have a similar story with Deus Ex HR and MD like you. Loved HR, bought MD day one becauae it was very close to my birthday. Eventually stopped not even halfway through and got turned off by the bad reviews. Funny story, I completed it recently including all achievements and loved it. Just took me 7 years xD
1 or 2 games? I've got entire series Ive not got to "yet" despite having them installed/uninstalled half a dozen times:
"Souls" games
Metal Gear series
Resident Evil
Devil May Cry
Bayonetta
Ive never played a single one of the above.
Cyberpunk and guardians of the galaxy
Detective Pikachu. I played it for 10 minutes and got bored. I keep telling myself I'm going to come back to it and actually play it, but 🤷
