Hi Tom, I tried to join feddit UK however I got an error "email fails" when I tried to register. Now when I try to sign in it says "email not verified" - account name is "ToastedYoyo"
Any chance you can help?
Hey yeh today has been wild thereβs been a lot of signups and Iβve hit the rate limit for my email relay provider.

Hey Tom, sorry to jump on this one too, but I couldn't work out how to private message you from this instance account. I'm having the same issue; Email verification never materialised and I can't login without one. Guessing it's also likely due to having hit your email limit?
first day of apollo being dead, finding myself sadder than i thought i would be. i knew it was going to shutdown but i guess it didn't feel properly real until it just stopped working
Relay was my app of choice, but other than that this is bang on for me.
The app is still working for me at the moment but I've managed to ween myself off over the last couple of weeks.
Never posted in CasualUK but it was the sub I'd always retreat to. There was a palpable sense of relief when I found this place.

Just discovered Lemmy because of Sync closing down (Though I've been a fan since the Hawkwind days) Is there anywhere I can get an ELI5 for this Fediverse thingy? I see there's a UK-centric Feddit but I can't get my head round how they're connected

But the best thing to do is just to dive in and get used to it. It's like Reddit, but smaller and friendlier. You can join communities (equivalents to subreddits) on any instance your home instance is federated to (which will be most of them). For example I'm on feddit.uk and it's seamless to post here, a community on lemmy.world, and communities on any other instance.
Also once your instance upgrades to version 0.18 which will be soon, that's a big usability upgrade.

As others have said but also I use the kbin.social instance which has a slightly different looking interface but still federates (shares content) with the other instances
Another way to think about the fediverse is you know all those annoying "local" newspapers that have maybe one or two local articles then a billion clickbait or advertisements disguises as articles that could be from anywhere. Well each trumptonnews.co.uk or pontypamdyadvertiser.co.uk or greendalegazzette.com is like an instance but all the articles are shared....except hopfully for threads it is interesting stuff not guff.
Tired today after a returning from a long trip and immediately having to replace my dead home networking equipment as apparently the telephone pole outside my house was struck by lightning while I was away.

My getting old moan is that my hands barely function when I wake. I used to think it was because I lie on them, but apparently it's a form of arthritis. No doubt brought on my 30 years of work in videogames development. Luckily my SO has brought me a cup of tea to wrap my creaking hands around to warm them up and get them moving again.
Recovering from seeing Guns N' Roses in Hyde Park, very pleased that I've ticked off another one from my gig bucket list!

It's looking to be another hot day where I am, and I'm just hunkering down with the dogs and doing not much. Might sort laundry out this evening.
Finally got to the end of the work week. Taking the kids out to family tomorrow and hopefully I'll get some me time in the evenings before Tuesday comes back around.
On holiday in Marsden. Arrived Friday to endless rain, which continued through to this morning. Attempted a hike up Pule Hill but the big factor was too much. Went for a waltz along canal instead. Weather perked up so we had a scramble around Buckstone Edge. Incredibly windy day for landscape photography, but fun nevertheless!

Spent the first couple hours of the day doing tech support for all our confused new Lemmings, as is my duty as an old lady of...checks notes...26 days experience.
We're heading out for a bit of a hike and picnic in a bit which sounds lovely but in reality will probably be cut short due to wasps. Then back home for more tech support, some game dev of course (navmeshes in Godot you will not defeat me!) and then we're watching Reign of Fire tonight which I am unreasonably excited for! π
