I use both and much prefer Mastodon. As others have said, it's more mature and the apps (of which there are many) are more polished. Bluesky is a bit glitchy and less feature rich. In fact, you still can't mute phrases on Bluesky, which is a deal breaker for me.

Mastodon is harder to find people due to the federated nature, although some mobile apps such as Megalodon on Android and Ice Cubes on iOS do pull follower and following lists from remote instances which makes it easier to find people.

Bluesky is more like old Twitter, and many people who I've followed for years are on there. Trying to out quip each other. Mastodon is more friendly and I've found lots of interesting people to follow.

I wonder if it's too much to hope for 50hz versions. Seem to recall the Britbox episodes were 25hz (at least initially when I had a trial). I find classic Who unwatchable at 25hz sadly. Got to have that smooth video camera motion for the studio scenes!

I realise it's little consolation, but having not seen the before it looks great. I've had a beard for, like 20/30 years and rarely last more than a couple of months before getting annoyed with it, lopping the whole thing off and starting from scratch.

I've completely dropped off BF this year, and don't even have much of an idea of what has been released! Would appreciate a suggestion for what to jump into first. Thinking about the Second Doctor / James McCrimmon box if that's out yet.

I'm a LibreTube person myself, but only because I can't figure out how to access a YT channel's playlists in NewPipe. A couple of my subscriptions have unlisted videos that are in playlists (for example MLIG live streams). LibreTube isn't perfect though. I cannot fully disable the "Home" page.

Also

AntennaPod (Podcatcher), Imagepipe (Image manipulation esp exifdata), Tusky (mastodon client)

My Life in Gaming

Unfortunately I played it on console... Either Switch or Xbox, but I see it's on sale on Steam at the moment, so maybe I'll give it a go on PC and can always fall back on some mods if need be. Thanks.

I'm getting a bit older and have mild arthritis and being forced to play games "as developers intended" really grinds my gears. I'm stuck someway through Hollow Knight and doubt I'll ever go back to it. Some of us are already playing things on hard mode!

More like "this is the PS3 that came with the pile of dust I bought."

I honestly cannot remember when I last watched a movie. However, in the last week I've binged two seasons of Star Trek Discovery.

I'm considering cancelling my Pocket pre-order and wonder if anyone can poke me in either direction.

I only ordered at the start of this year, so I don't expect to get anything until at least the end of 2023 if not 2024. However, I went ahead and got a RG35XX since it was only £60 in these parts. And... I'm loving it. But I realise I'm especially enjoying the save states for SNES games (which the Pocket doesn't have). Since I have kids it's means I can just turn it off, deal with their shenanigans, and go back later.

I already have a MiSTer, MegaSG and SuperNT. I ordered the Pocket because I have a 30 or 40 GB and GBA carts. But you know, I have a few GBs, GBAs and GBCs. So maybe the Pocket is unnecessary.

Anyway, this are just rambling thoughts in my head. Convince me one way or another! 😁
