Just like we'll have "full self driving this year" for 10 years running?

Elon Musk is a fucking moron who happened to stumble upon brilliant engineers who actually do meaningful work. Unfortunately for him he's fired or burned through nearly all of them which is why Twitter is bleeding cash and Tesla hasn't released anything interesting in 5 years.

Tesla hasn't released anything interesting in 5 years

Hey they regularly update the ability to make your vehicle into an expensive whoopie cushion. If that isn't interesting I don't know what is.

So is DOGE the SS or another group? Just trying to figure out which actors are playing which characters.

[–] Master@lemm.ee 2 points 17 hours ago

Is the doge dog the new swastika?

Calling DOGE the SS really downplays the seriousness and horror of the real SS. Go look up some history, friend.

Sooo… I’m not going to be flying for at least the next four years.

I'm flying to Vegas this weekend! Let's see how it goes!

GF actually already has a slight fear of flying, so this should be an adventure trying to calm her down. lol

You may still die from falling debris of some air safety armed drone. Rapid safety upgrades are like that, accidents happen

[–] dance_ninja@lemmy.world 99 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Rapid and safe don't go together

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That’s not true. I can think of a quick change that will greatly improve air safety: ground every single plane, effective immediately.

Would it affect my upcoming vacation? Yes. But would it work? Yes.

Have you considered working for the government?

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago

No. I am very good at being sarcastic for pedantic reasons. Now, coming up with a suitable solution is hard

[–] StaticFalconar@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Getting a bus pass doesn't make you a better driver.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, yes, but I don’t see the relevancy

[–] StaticFalconar@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You dont make flying planes safer by not flying them the same way you dont become a safer driver because you dont drive.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 1 points 55 minutes ago

Makes sense but unlike with driving, you can literally shutdown controlled airspace. So imagine if cars all had identifiers that could be tracked remotely (like ADS-B) and you could shutdown all driving in a given city - including busses. That would drop the accidents down to 0.

While a really stupid idea that would piss everyone off, it would allow the government time to get their shit together and preventing people from dying on airports and in the air.

Shooting Elon is rapid

[–] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Theres an old saying you cant have everything Rapid safe and cheap.

You just need to pick 2.

[–] Majorllama@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Good thing they saved us a bunch of money by shutting everything down then. They can spend the pentagons sushi budget on quickly training some safe operators.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 53 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If the military doesnt do something, because Congress won't, we're absolutely cooked. I have family who work on planes. Fuck all of this.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You live in a country that had psychiatry more barbaric than that of USSR till 70s.

EDIT: too niche an example ; no they won't.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemm.ee 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's the guy who fucked it up. He and his goons are morons, and should be nowhere near any of this

Maybe so, but the are on it. So...

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah bruh, I am not flying until the next admin cleans up all this horseshit. If we have a next admin.

[–] psyklax@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 day ago

Planes go over my house all day. We're all fucked, even if we don't fly. Maybe one will fall on him and we can have a good laugh 😅

[–] Xanza@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

Every single action that he does even if it only takes a day to undo took decades to get implemented. Will probably take just as long to get it back.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

Like to Tesla FSD systems, right? Slap a couple patches on there? Cut off a split second before it hits parked ambulances on the interstate so it’s technically not responsible?

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You know, rapid and safe, like Tesla full self driving.

[–] SirQuackTheDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Ah, yes, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping with some AI hallucinations dropped in, surely that'll be safe.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

DOGE? His crack team of 18-26 year old muppets? Wonderful.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

There's a 26y old? Oldest i saw reported was like 23

Same age group as Lemmy, so...

Yeah, sucks.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

All I know is that I have a flight for work in a couple weeks and if shit keeps going this way I'm fucking driving, even if I have to leave a day early.

I'm flying to Vegas tomorrow night. lol

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I have to fly home cross country tomorrow. Wheeee.
