We already have compostable straws made from plant-based plastics.

I guess E6 and 6E were already taken as well.

And product marketing pushes for product renames like this. I wonder how much this will cost Apple in international trademark fees? Apple likes to recycle existing product names to save money (AppleWorks, AppleVision, iBooks, etc). I don’t think Apple Account was an existing trademark.

That probably wouldn’t hold up in court.

People are moving away from plastic containers for food. Cheap disposable Glad and Rubbermaid containers also made a huge dent in their business.

Sounds like lemon law/mass buyback time again. I foresee many cheap buyback Equinox used cars for sale in two years.

“The bad news is that Hyundai is not expected to launch the Casper (Inster) EV in the US.”

So tired of car companies who only want to sell giant expensive cars in the US.

“Purchase an adapter.”

Ford gave its EV customers an adapter for free.

It was a dumb move. So much more important things to be working on. There was nothing wrong with the “Apple ID” naming. Renaming it just creates unnecessary confusion.

Why EZ-6 and not EV-6? Bizarre.

Polls are meaningless these days. No one is answering unknown phone numbers but old people.

Remember to vote, no matter what the polls say.

“The local utility says it’s going to need a million gallons of water per day and 150 megawatts of electricity — enough to power 100,000 homes per year. “

I wasn’t sure what they meant with that water usage. Like does the water get recirculated and it’s a one time expense? Or is it a million gallons discharged into a river or sewer ever single day? Is it tainted? Or just evaporates from a cooling tower? Seems like a huge waste.

So I’ve got an old Mac I use as a Plex server and I’m considering installing Ubuntu on a DOS-formatted partition I’ve already set aside. What I’m wondering is:

  • Do I just need this one partition, or is it going to need an additional blank partition for VM/Swap?
  • can I install Ubuntu on an external drive and then clone or dd the external install onto the internal partition I’ve set aside?

So although Paramount is being purchased by Skydance media, it’s being bankrolled by Ellison of Oracle software fame. Why he wants to run an entertainment studio, I have no idea.

“It’s not like ‘ER.’ It’s not kind of ‘ER.’ It’s not sort of ‘ER.’ It is ‘ER’ with the exact same executive producer, writer, star, production companies, studio and network as the planned ‘ER’ reboot.”

Not that I should be surprised, but trying to watch it today and it’s just talk talk talk talk. Commercials. More talk. Overhead shots of the stadium. People walking around in the rain. Talking head. Cut away to footage of Carl Lewis bitching about something. Instant replay of something they already showed. People hugging. Stadium shot. Human interest story. Commercial. Shot of Eiffel Tower. Promo for actual sports being shown on Peacock. Etc etc.

Meanwhile you can see there’s sporting events going on because they are showing them on the Jumbotron in the stadium shots. Really no excuse for this since most of this coverage is pre-recorded anyway.

Evidently screwing customers twice by making them watch ads for the same price they used to get ad-free has been profitable. Let the enshitification continue!

In other news, their ad sales VP left this week for some reason.

Sounds pathetic. I wonder how many product managers have been in charge of Apple News since it started?
