Found my way back to Lemy today as well for something similar. I've noticed just in the past few days the comment threads on even mundane threads have gotten really weird. It could be a post about a picture of a hummingbird and it would devolve into strange politics. Weird pro CCP and North Korea stuff lately too. It's weird.

Not when we have Fediverse
Fediverse, as much as I love the idea, isn't even close to accept even a portion of people who will flock here when reddit totally dies. It will crumble upon itself the same day. Two third of instances will immediately run out of credit and shut down, the rest will be overwhelmed by traffic and devolve into a slow mess full of trolls and spam.
Fediverse needs to grow organically
That's the power of decentralisation, Trolls will have to create their own shitty instances and wr can block them. Look at what's going on with Hexbear. Reddit can fucking die, I'm not worried for the fedi.
And if you want shitty instance, you can make an account on that shitty instance, no one will stop you. Fediverse is amazing.

It sucks to get banned for life from somewhere you love for doing something you didn't feel was wrong, but holy hell, Musk absolutely threw up a Nazi salute.
