Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
Surely this will make egg prices go down.
But how will it affect the trout population?
God, we're really right back in the first trump era. Every day bad shit happening and everyone just jokes about it and moves on to the next bad shit happening.
This is already worse and we still have 4 years minus most of 1 month to go.
We're only 8 days in.
It's gonna be a long 4 years.
Only 4 years is optimistic.
Only 1,452 more days to go, assuming it stops in 4 years.
99% of us are powerless to do anything about it, so we laugh to keep from crying.
You're not powerless, but those in power would much prefer if you believe there's nothing you can do.
Organizing and getting involved on a local level are some of the most powerful things we can do, as it lays the groundwork for creating a new system in the shell of the old.
Here's a handy guide on how to get started.
Look for your local Food not bombs or mutual aid groups, they're a great entry point into getting into the world of direct action, where communities attempt to solve problems without waiting and hoping that corrupt and ineffective government to fix it for them.
If you live in a very rural area where you can't find an existing group to join, I would implore you to try starting one yourself, hopefully with a group of like minded friends if you can.
Building up your community and making genuine connections will pay off in dividends in the coming years, do not underestimate how powerful doing so can be.
Tell me about it. Nearly deep south and the closest DSA that isn't 3 hours has no way to contact them.
Don't you love those friendships where you can go without talking for years and then pick back up right where you left off
I'm just not that "type" of person, so I'm truly holding myself back from saying something about this to my conservative relatives.
Just like when Biden was president, I know for a fact that the price of eggs is not a thing that the president controls, but you would have thought it was based on how conservatives presented things the past 4 years.
All of a sudden my conservative family and friends are either quiet on the topic or they've had a revelation that the prices are due to external factors like bird flu / supply & demand and that the current president has little to do with things. Funny how that works.
They voted for the guy that said he'd lower prices. They voted for the guy that they swear "life was better under".
The difference is, I can afford as many eggs as I want at these prices without even noticing. They can't.
I’m waiting for “I did that” stickers the next time gas goes up. I’ll be waiting forever.
Wait for summer gas... Always more expensive
But didn't you say it was blahblahs fault and not because of supply and demand, then just keep saying that while laughing at them, it wouldnt effect a normal person but shit like that breaks down maga ppl, you just gotta act like a bully on a playground, keep repeating yourself, dont let them speak, etc. they always break when you use their own tactics agains them insanely fast and kinda sad to see
I an that kind of person and have cut ties with family for less
What a fine morning, I wonder how the Americans are do- what the fuck???
Costco had zero eggs today. This never happened under the Biden administration lawl
It's insider trading isn't it? Now only he and his buddies get the reports and will be betting on egg futures.
Nah, they're not that bright. Most of these things aren't planned. They're just the result of Trump/Elon getting a stupid idea with no one left to tell them no.
I hate how correct this likely is.
Gonna use egg prices as an indicator of bird flu risk like I use pizza orders at the Pentagon as DEFCON
This is a stupid question, but what holidays??? Christmas and New Years are over, the next real holiday is in like 3 months?
Mardi Gras and major festivals in the spring
There's lunar new year, but its more than a stretch to say that's causing the price of eggs to rise.
Unless it's saying that the prices have reached 2022 during the holiday season?
I started prepping for the next pandemic. Getting my nonoerishable foods stored up
Well Trump could go 2/2 on fucking up pandemics, so there's that...
No. It doesn't
Confirmed human case summary since 2024
The year is currently 2025. And the CDC has been ordered by President Trusk not to publish any new data.
