Learn how to take a screenshot

Part of the joke is that it looks like a snapchat story, hence the photo

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And what about their screen?

[–] Neptr@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 2 weeks ago

People on Snapchat dont give a fuck about cleanliness.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago

I feel like they intentionally got some bad glare on the screen, but in a spot where it wouldn’t interfere with you quickly reading the text. 🤌🏼

[–] sbv@sh.itjust.works 35 points 2 weeks ago

Screenshots are also disabled.

I didn't notice until you posted. I thought it was my phone screen.

I thought it was some sort of sky full of stars background.

It's okay. Emacs is still available.

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 42 points 2 weeks ago

Bah. Moving from one ideologist's garden to another. Choose freedom! Choose Microsoft Paint.

Emacs runs everything if you try hard enough.

Someone has built an org mode plugin for launching steam games[1] - I don't believe anyone has yet built a steamos emulator in elisp, though.

But that just means it could be you!

I'm sure some PhD student has. Unfortunately they don't come out of their mom's attic for anything other than ramen so we'll never find out

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 7 points 2 weeks ago

Holy shit, that looks real.

I... Don't have words. It's beautiful. And it's terrifying.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Dirty Emacs scum. Jk, I love ya.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Hey, personally, I use nano.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nano users unite and edit a few lines of code, but that's it.

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 7 points 2 weeks ago

Nano users unite and edit a few lines of code, but that's it.

I would pay for that on a shirt. That's really good.

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

But what about micro :P

Honestly i feel micro is a child of vim and nano. Powerful addons and visual support. With simple keybinds

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty great response.

[–] callmepk@lemmy.world 43 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Instruction unclear, made a Neovim version lol

[–] stetech@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Am not a Neovim user. How do you make the lines show up next to the directory contents listing?

[–] callmepk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That’s a plugin called oil.nvim, which allows you to navigate and edit filesystem as if it’s a neovim buffer

[–] stetech@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks!

I’ll add that onto my ~~pile~~ list of things to look into again once Helix gets its plugin functionality…

[–] towerful@programming.dev 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm just surprised this isn't a systemd joke

[–] mdhughes@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

ed (1) is still the standard text editor.

[–] phlegmy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago

You don’t use butterflies?

I assume these memes are related to tiktok somehow? Is there more to it than that, or am I just no longer "hip" enough to understand today's humor?

[–] astropenguin5@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Yea its a meme of the format of the TikTok ban message, though there is also a sub-joke is the PID being how the US's political parties swing back and forth, which is in the part where TikTok referred to trump planning on revoking the ban, and that it just needs to wait for it to finish swinging back right.

[–] crimsonpoodle@pawb.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah I think it is, they had a similar page

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Damn, I guess ill have to use Nano (ewww)

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Gross, providing a UI you can just learn without a separate reference manual? Disgusting.

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ikr, why would I want simplicity when I can have superiority (I use Arch btw)

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 1 points 1 week ago

Oh, same. Even got the bumper sticker so all the ladies know.

[–] tux0r@feddit.org 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Or micro, if you wish nano made sense

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

Only issue I have with it is copy paste, especially over ssh

[–] tux0r@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I wish nano wouldn’t destroy line endings.

[–] lnxtx@feddit.nl 5 points 2 weeks ago

What do you mean?

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

I have not seen that behavior

If the currently growth of fascism is at least a directly proportional (or even exponential) graph, just about every open source project will be banned for Reads in Louis rossman`s voice when he's pronouncing words like „own” allowing Treasonous and terrorist words like: „transgender”, „Socialism”, „nazi”, and „cis” without banning and reporting the users to the respective authorities to begin the process of relocating them to the nearest reeducation and work centre

( If you don't know the voice that I'm referring to, its in this video when he reads the EULA of sony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krXH8jXefqE)

[–] CheesyFox@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)
