Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

We want his (the Greek military officer) family to have the best protection. Which means a kindergarten for his child, a special school for children with special needs. Let me give you an example, autism. Autism a few years ago was not in our vocabulary, it gives children who have some problems, but they also have special skills. So we will create a school where the children of military personnel who have autism will be supported. And their own potential, what is it? It is to be able to see photos and distinguish their special features. In AI, you need what is called BIG DATA. Our AI systems need hundreds of thousands of target photos, which they will need to memorize and our drone will need to see the target and shoot at. The best ones who can see the small differences, and teach the Drone with AI, are children with autism, and Israel has special units for this. So we will take the children of our officers, train them and find them jobs.”

No he's saying they're gonna have autistic kids train AI algorithms by creating training data. So he wants to force kids into doing Mechanical Turk stuff for military drone targeting.

Darn, I was hopeful I could be shown my true potential for use by the nearest Maoist guerrilla army.

I'm not 100% sure thats better.

Dumber. Funnier. Maybe better?

He's talking about an existing Israeli thing, Ro'im Rachok

Googling that gave me exactly the kind of bleak search results I was expecting. Cheery videos and articles about how progressive it is to give autistic people job training by having them identify targets in drone footage.

Okay so you know how we like to insert "AI" as a magical cure all solution to all our problems? And anything proposed to someone in power after 2021 must have "AI" in it?

And you know how AI doesn't actually exist and all the current shit we're calling that is a junk bullshit thing thats literally just autocorrect juiced up exponentially from 'runs as part of my phones keyboard app' to 'data center that requires a dedicated nuclear power plant' and that barely improves it because this technology, on top of not being something that can lead to intelligence, has ridiculously diminishing returns?

And you know how when you try to explain any part of that to anyone with any money or power, their eyes just glaze over as they mentally categorize you as a hater/heretic, because FOMO and needing to believe because their world order us clearly dying and only believing in the magical power of AI fairy dust can ward off both the terrible communists who will steal their toothbrush and/or dismantle their power to call down unlimited violence on anyone they think has cooties and solve all the ways their way of life is going to end a life on earth without them having to grow or change at all?

And you know how they dont understand jack shit about autistic people unless we explain ourselves in terms of utility to them, but they can only take like two sentences before they get bored and wander off to pretend theyre having a conversation while 500db music plays distorted over speakers that really werent meant for thst, or get some friends together for a lynching, or whatever NT's do for fun?

This is taking two magical intelligence related machines you dont understand and saying they'll go well together. Possibly after reading/watching some mid 20th century SciFi about child soldiers being really good at killing aliens.

Having known military goons, plenty of those are autistic and can stomp around in the bush with a gun. What a baffling statement
