Harris’s people are confident. The Trump campaign is panicking

God, I hope they know something we don't. I feel like I'm gonna pass out. Or throw up.

It's 2016 again, but much, much worse.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Turns out they didn't know something we didn't.

Classic, also happens every time in Turkey. Don't remember an election in the last 20 years (local, general, referendum take your pick) where the opposition was like "oh shit we might lose this one, lets work harder". Starting to feel a bit scripted.

I mean, nerves before any big event are normal for anyone lol.

A repeat of 2016. Everyone was so sure he was done and got complacent

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 0 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Was it?

2016 was close.

Democrats got blown out of the water in 2024.

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 224 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Last line:

“He’s realizing that he could lose the election, go to prison, and maybe die there,” they said.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 210 points 1 week ago (14 children)

God, that would almost make the next 36 hours or so worth it.

Almost.

Anyone have any general anesthetic I can borrow?

[–] osaerisxero@kbin.melroy.org 47 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Best I can offer is grain alcohol

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

That'll have to do.

[–] auzy@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm going to bed here in Australia now, and will hopefully wake up to a harris win.. Best of luck guys. The entire world is literally hoping for this (because another 4 years of racism, narcassism, BS and cult behavior is simply too much)..

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

You definitely won't wake up to a Harris win, unless you sleep for 24 hours or more. Voting is just about to start. Won't end 'til tonight.

[–] auzy@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

I can live with that.. just not wake up to a Harris loss

I hope he strokes out and gets locked in syndrome for a few years.

I want him to experience hell on earth in case hell doesn't exist.

[–] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just want him gone, don't care how it happens - death, prison, or retirement into obscurity, whatever. Just so long as he's out of the game.

God, that would almost make the next 36 hours or so worth it.

36 hours?

Uhhhh. Its like 1488 hours until January 6th, 2025, and I'm not even sure if all the issues will be resolved by then this time around. Even if Kamala wins.

In a nightmare Year 2000-like scenario (aka: Hanging Chads deciding an election), it could be the middle of December before the Supreme Court handles a hypothetical case that comes up tomorrow night.

[–] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's like 1488 hours until January 6th

It's really fucking bizarre that it actually is the Nazi-est number hours imaginable between the election and final certification of the election. I legit thought you were just doing some Nazi dog whistle virtue signaling until I did the math to find that 1488 hours is 62 days, and we are in fact 62 days from January 6. 🤯

The tragedy we've been living through needs a biiiiiiiiig catharsis to make it worthwhile.

It's going to drag on longer than that, if it's not a clear Republican victory from the outset.

I’m locking myself in my shop after 8pm, and using destructive metal objects to tear apart desiccated tree flesh. Maybe I’ll wander out at 3am and see what’s up. There’s no internet out there, and that may be the only path of sanity Tuesday night.

[–] M600@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

I’m feeling so much stress over the election. I don’t even drink but I bought 2 beers today, maybe subconsciously I was looking for a way to decompress from the stress of the Election Day.

In case anyone is concerned, it’s not an alcoholism thing. I just generally do not enjoy drinking alcohol.

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's probably gonna be well over 36 hours

He doesn't have all that long anyway, but I sure would love to see him spending lots of time in and out of court at a minimum. Going to prison would be fantastic. Honestly, I know the likelihood is nearly nil, but the American people really, really need to see a Republican finally pay for their crimes. Stone and Bannon are out of prison and they should both be rotting there.

This is one of those times were you just gotta roll with the hourminutes. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 37 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Too poor for recreational drugs. And too medicated. I'm afraid all I have is exhaustion, paranoia, anxiety, and terror for the next 36 hours or so.

[–] foiledAgain@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Looks like you picked the RIGHT week to start sniffing glue

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Yep, Charlie Kelly time— huff glue, eat cat food and straight to pass out until it’s all over.

Let's be real, is there ever a wrong week?

[–] Wilzax@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If your ballot is submitted, there's nothing more to do.

If not, I'll see you in line at 7:00 tomorrow!

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You'll see me in line. Limping my ass down to my assign polling place and filling out the ballot there. Hail Mary, Full of Grace.

I wonder if Jupiter is still accepting sacrifices...?

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You know as well as anyone, sacrifices are addressed "to whom it concerns"

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Hah, it is awfully auspicious that I posted that not long ago, huh? Quocumque nomine...

Box breathing.

Box breathing involves four basic steps, each lasting 4 seconds:

  1. breathing in
  2. holding the breath
  3. breathing out
  4. holding the breath

It takes some getting used to, so you’ll be distracted at first having to concentrate on your breathing.

I also like to meditate by emptying my mind and thinking about a giant, unlit room with a spotlight on a chair that I’m sitting in. Whenever my mind wanders to anywhere but there, I force myself to bring it back and only think about me sitting in that chair. I’m neither happy, sad, nor mad. I’m just existing in the chair; breathing and existing.

And if all else fails: don’t panic. Grab a towel and stick your thumb out. Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a ride on a Vogon ship. And most importantly, “On no account allow a Vogon to read poetry at you.”

That is the best picture of trump I've ever seen.

Trump's team has been preparing for a loss for at least weeks now. Luckily it's so obvious that, especially with the precedent of the last coup, it's not going to take anyone by surprise. As a Canadian: please get out and vote, give Harris the substantial victory your country needs, and rub it in Trump's face so hard it's breaks through the layers of spray tan.

P.S. OP, I can understand how you feel. Even as a Canadian I'm going to be so glad to get past tomorrow + the time it takes to confirm a victor. Issues like the environment, Ukraine/Russia, and Israel/Gaza affect us all.
