Putin Critic

I can take a guess why.

Ukrainians should stop fighting and start building tall floors with windows and let mother nature do its thing.

Putin the gravity wizard strikes again!

Must be low on mana because he hasn't cast a polonium spell in a while

There’s an excellent podcast called Sad Oligarch with a 3-part series on Dan Rapoport, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Apple podcast link here for those who are as lazy as I am

[–] Ameripol@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I was just about to recommend this podcast. I tend to like most things Jake Hanrahan puts out, as they're usually well researched and interesting.

The title and everyone here suggests that Putin had a critic of his killed while in the capitol of his largest competing nation, a nation full of Putin critics. The police putting out that they don’t suspect foul play had to alarm people, yet it stands. It seems like this may actually be an accident, otherwise a master assassin or a lot of money regardless is at play for marginal returns. Seems unlikely.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

People like this don't fall out of a window by accident. They are not stupid or careless. I read the article and it's really light on details too. It says he had fall damage and that's it.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm not saying you're totally wrong, but also yes sometimes people actually do just fall out of windows or whatever else. That's why there are regulations to try to make them safer. Accidents do sometimes just happen. This one is suspicious, but it is totally possible that, in this case, someone did just fuck up.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sure but it's extreamly unlikely that this particular person would fall out of a window. There are people in the world that are very often involved in accidents, due to their personality and risk taking behavior. But people like this guy is not one of those.

It's not impossible of course.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Being a Putin critic sounds like risk taking behavior...

I don't know how you can judge this guy's risk profile from this. Again, I don't disagree that it's weird, but also I don't know anything about the person and sometimes things just happen.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

a lot of money regardless is at play for marginal returns.

That sounds on brand for Putin.

[–] catfish@programming.dev 6 points 1 year ago

In the motherland lmao its very common to fall off of windows if you speak against the mafia like regime, so this is totally on brand so other would be challengers take notice

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 14 points 1 year ago

Police don't suspect foul play....

Their integrity is surely without question here right guys?

[–] Tatters 13 points 1 year ago

There has been quite a few poisonings of Putin’s critics here in the UK, with good evidence of Russian state involvement. Poison leaves a distinctive trace. Pushing someone out of a window appears to be more in favour now, as there is less forensic evidence, depending on how much force is required for the involuntary defenestration.

[–] TruTollTroll@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Cause police never lie, always give the facts right away, don't hide the cameras and police videos and totally protect and serve the community..... I totally trust them saying "nothing to see here, move along, just a tragedy that he did to himself"....

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

The first three words of the headline are why.

[–] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"We still don't know why?" I dunno, seems pretty obviously orchestrated by Putin. Connect the dot, people.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

As the article seems to imply, he had plenty of enemies who could’ve done it. Not quite so straightforward.

[–] Tigbitties@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

To the mystery van!!

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Police don’t suspect foul play killed Dan Rapoport.

Police don't want to fall out their own windows. They knows this is above their pay grade and would rather the feds take this case over.
