Liberals will see this and still argue that portraying Xi as Winnie the Pooh isn't racist.

Are you kidding right now or seriously asking how portraying an Asian person as yellow is racist?

[–] abfarid@startrek.website -2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I never made that connection, thought it was a shape thing (oh and the red shirt). But I never saw asian people as yellow, and don't understand that remark. An asian friend of mine once jokingly referred to herself as a banana, but then had to explain the joke to me.

[–] LesbianLiberty@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago

Whether you personally are caught up or not it still has a deep history in anti-asian racism. Depictions of asians as yellow is a classic hallmark of anti-asian racism.

[–] ExotiqueMatter@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Internalized racism is a thing, just so you know.

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 0 points 2 months ago

Racism is racism. If you think that certain nation is of a certain kind because of their genetics, it's just racism, whether it applies to yourself or not.

But to clarify, she was only making a joke, it wasn't racist.

As Ibrahim Traore, no less. Another proof that fascist mind automatically mix all things inside it.

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 33 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I don't think it was a mix up unfortunately...

FFS... the racism is filled with racism.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 57 points 2 months ago

Definitely not racist.

we worry about the survival of the biosphere, they worry about phenotypes.

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 31 points 2 months ago

Clearly race is the most important issue at hand.

Why is Uganda there? All I know about the country is that it's one of the most zealously homophobic countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Is that why?

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 46 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The funny thing is didn't British and American Evangelicals spread their anti-LGBT ideology there, the latter mainly after imposing IMF-style deregulation?

[–] asante@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago

good read. :amerikkka:

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That's the tragedy of it, along with the fears of the ongoing HIV pandemic. Both go back to various Western imperial designs. Sub-Saharan Africa before all that had a rich history of varied gender and sexual expression before all that was brutally destroyed.

The HIV part especially saddens me because of how the initial transmission, according to new scholarship, probably happened because of French and Belgian colonial forces consuming bushmeat during the campaign against the German forces in Cameroon during WWI.

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 33 points 2 months ago

Uganda isn't even in Brics who fukin knows

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 2 months ago

Fascist mind noticed random memes about Uganda and since it's African country it got automatically added to the Great Conspiracy in their mind.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Is that why?

Yes; clearly this person opposes homophobia

I mean, one of the things liberal interventionists use on all fronts is queer people as political props, regardless of how tolerant the leadership actually is. We see the same with the supposedly tolerant Israelis, who also have large swaths of their electorate who are homophobic. I suppose it's still a lazy guess on my part.

If I had to put money on it, maybe the Ukrainians are angry about Russian mercenaries being active in the region, like in Sudan?

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Neoliberal fascists (same-picture ) do oppose homophobia, but only for chauvinist reasons. They won’t give a shit about LGBT people in their own countries as long as they’re more liberal than their enemies, because that’s the end goal - liberal “free market democracy”, not freedom.

[–] asante@hexbear.net 45 points 2 months ago

CW for racism pls

[–] Aru@lemmygrad.ml 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

this person 100% uses that one antisemitic drawing

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 35 points 2 months ago

Right? They had to show restraint because they're supporting Israel at the moment, but I'm 100% this person would drop the vilest happy merchant Nazi cartoon if the circumstances were different.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Gee, I can't imagine why so many countries around the world don't want to support Ukraine or Western countries in general (not that Ukraine is guaranteed to continue being considered a Western country once EU countries decide to pay attention to their own countries' affairs rather than seeing how much they can mess with Russia).

I'm reminded of a Ukrainian on twitter using the okay/not okay picture from Family guy to refer to countries standing with Ukraine vs those that aren't, clearly not realizing that that scene in Family guy was intended to mock racists.

[–] TechnoUnionTypeBeat@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago

not that Ukraine is guaranteed to continue being considered a Western country

It wasn't until 2014 for a brief period, then people forgot about them until the invasion at which point they declared them honourary whites again

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 29 points 2 months ago

lmao why did they put a good looking taliban guy in

[–] blashork@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Needs a CW for racism. I'm gonna leave this up for another hour, if the cw hasn't been added by then I'll take it down. I'm not sure if this has been changed in a recent lemmy version, but you should still be able to edit it, once the cw is added I'll put it back up.

Ukraine and the rest of the western world were begging Africans to stop supporting China snd Russia or else they’ll face sanctions. They also begged China to step in and get Russia to end the war, and now it portrays Russia as the “master” of China lol

[–] Aru@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just noticed something, look at the clothes of the Hamas and the Taliban guys lmfao

Holy shit they actually resurrected the Abbasids vs Umayyads meme.

the head photoshopped onto Kim Jong Un is taken from a literal nazi propaganda artwork depicting CW SA

CW:SASoviet soldiers sexually assaulting a German child

that I once had spammed at me by a nazi

I unironically support this order.
