Gotta get her worked up to that kind of commitment. I started playing BG3 in December and my wife saw a few hours of game play and then bought it for herself so we could co-op. We are in Act 3 in the co op game and I'm still in act 1 in my solo.

Is couch coop with a single copy an option?

Yes, the game supports split screen local co-op on consoles and even on PC.

You can play through the first 2/3rds of the game in split screen with no trouble. However, in my experience it gets unstable in act 3 on Xbox Series X (probably also on PS5). Presumably it is something to do with the limited memory on consoles, so if your PC has great specs it should work there.

They are planning an update due next month which is supposed to address the crashing, but it remains to be seen.

I think currently the best experience on consoles is to have two copies of the game on separate consoles.

The patch 7 update also will supposedly add cross platform multiplayer, so you could have one player on console and one on PC, since you probably don't have two Xboxes, but again, it remains to be seen

Definitely on console. I've not looked into it on PC.

You don't even have to buy the game twice for LAN multiplayer. It's DRM-free.

Just finished my third co-op campaign with my partner, I think she may enjoy the game more than I do. It is pretty great having shared hobbies ☺️

One year later, still busy on my first run with two friends

I don't have any friends so I've never played coop and I've always wondered, how does the game manage romance in that mode? Can players romance each other? Can they even talk to each other with dialogue options? Do they just both romance different people? How does that affect the ending???

Larian published a tongue-in-cheek guide a while back saying that you can't romance your co-op partner, but if you both kiss the screen at the same time, an electrifying feeling akin to love will occur.
