Karl Paul August Friedrich Liebknecht, born on this day in 1871, was a German socialist politician and theorist. Originally associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Liebknecht later became a co-founder with Rosa Luxemburg of both the Spartacus League and the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). Liebknecht is also known for his outspoken opposition to World War I.

The son of Wilhelm Liebknecht, one of the founders of the SPD, Karl Liebknecht trained to be a lawyer and defended many Social Democrats in political trials. He was also a leading figure in the socialist youth movement and thus became a leading figure in the struggle against militarism.

As a deputy in the Reichstag he was one of the first SPD representatives to break party discipline and vote against war credits in December 1914. He became a figurehead for the struggle against the war. His opposition was so successful that his parliamentary immunity was removed and he was improsoned.

Freed by the November revolution he immediately threw himself into the struggle and became with Rosa Luxemburg one of the founders of the new Communist Party (KPD)

In January 1919, the Spartacus League played a leading role in the Spartacist Uprising, a general strike and armed rebellion in Berlin. The uprising was crushed by the SPD government and the Freikorps (paramilitary units composed of World War I veterans). For their role in the uprising, Liebknecht and Luxemburg were both kidnapped, tortured, and murdered on January 15th, 1919.

Their contributions to European socialism are commemorated annually in Germany during the second weekend of January, an event known as the Liebknecht-Luxemburg Demonstration, or "LL-Demo" for short.

Finished the Railroad ending to Fallout 4. Confronting father on his deathbed I stepped out of my Power Armour to reveal Railroad Armour underneath and the same haircut as Glory (RIP). I persuaded him to help me minimize causalities and then put a single bullet into his head from Deliverer. Tommy Whisper and his many dead comrade having their revenge from beyond the grave.

I took the Synth Shaun with me, but I have sent him up to Sanctuary where only Mama Murphy, Macy and Jun Long live in a comfortable if rustic farmhouse. I figure it's a quiet spot for the immortal kid, he's got a cat, a dog and some toys. Maybe a child to look after might healing the Longs too.

Also doing Red Rocket's glare before this I had the most badass moment, the Vertibird with reinforcements showed up. I put 2 shots into it's windshield in VATS. Then re-entering vats, I targeted the pilots head (10%) and used a banked critical to put a 44mag from my Big Iron (relentless western revolver). The Vertibird starting it's spiral to crashing, Deacon lighting it up with a stream of rapid automatic plasma rifle fire and Ada with an Assaultron Head laser beam. Already flaming it hit the ground and a barely alive Knight in smashed powered armor came stumbling out of the wreckage just to take a 44mag slug in the chest.

People will misunderstand a basic problem in like a calculus class and act like it's the equivalent of trying to go from a vague idea to a concrete definition and theorem in research mathematics. You're not resolving some grand ambiguity, you just misread a statement. Take a deep breath and start over.

I just got a call which my phone labeled as [Name of my local bank] and answered it, it took a moment for the person on the other end to unmute or whatever and then I heard someone with a light accent ask to speak to Mr. [Last name] all of which combined for me to assume it was a scam call so I told him that Mr. [Last name] died in a terrible train accident and he said okay thank you and hung up. Was this a legit call lmao

A week and a day into being a plumber helper n pretty much ready to start looking else where. I don’t want to dig peoples drainage pipes or septic pipes no more. Should I try HVAC or electrician?

ought to be a film about the swiss being manipulated by their army staff into causing a general european war because the generals got tired of all the preparation around a war that was never coming.

think 80s-90s thriller where russian/soviets team up with nato to stop the plot before the jackboot of 20th century reislaufer descends on an unsuspecting europe

if this already exists please direct me to it

Finally getting around to watching Platoon (1986). It's OK. Hoping (with low expectations) that it becomes Nick Turse's Kill Everything That Moves: The Movie. I didn't know Keith David was in it though that's tight this guy can make anything watchable

Every time star trek discourse comes up I feel so out of the loop. The borg get their consciousness uploaded to the unimatrix and it is rad yeah?

Like, they are supposed to be an analog for comunism. Everyone resents the loss of autonomy but then says it is better right? Cause this is how I remember it but no one else seems to have gotten that so I am just confused.

I always hate when people say "well, you're just jealous". Yes, I am insanely fucking jealous, I will always be insanely fucking jealous, no I don't care if that's right or wrong. The fuck are they gonna do, stop me?

on the one hand i'm dying from anxiety bc my ex / woman i'm dating hasn't texted me back. on the other hand it feels great to have such a beautiful woman in my life again

Death to America

My takeaway from Hexbear is I should skew a little more toxic. Just here, cause when in Rome... Logging off for a while now, but I truly should remember when coming back. If people are being shitty I shouldn't hold back from now on.

Reading comic slop. This is actually way more fun without the β€œcomicbook geek” baggage.

I read the 2016 Flinstone comic run, it was simple, they used all the gags you’d expect, and everyone was jacked as fuck for no reason. Like community theatre but everyone is pro wrestler sized. The more i liked these, the more i agree that it was comic book stores that killed comics in america.

When someone thinks you're passing the buck by saying things that went wrong happened when you were off or in part of the process thst aren't your jurisdiction when it's for real cause you run a clean shop and are telling the truth, being nonchalant about things that aren't your problem going wrong is the worst crime
