maybe-later-kiddo It's about pragamatism - Emma

maybe-later-honey Sam "Harris" Seder - I voted for Nader and we got Bush (just going to omit how shitty billdawg was for the left, labor, LGBTBQ and the DNC nominating his VP to extend his policies were or how the DNC went on to rehabilitate mission-accomplished and were willing partners during his reign of shit.)

maybe-later-honey Look honey, we see you and hear you on that volcel-kamala xenophobia, but the reality is there are a lot of racists in this country and we can't afford to stand on principal now.

Nader was not a spoiler for Bush and I want to [outlandish cartoon violence] democrats who still perpetuate that nonense four and twenty years! after they let the scotus hand the election to bush in a judicial coup they refused to contest to "protect democracy" or something.

Ralph's bullying about consumer safety has avertted vast amounts of death and suffering and to punish him for that the Democrats decided to remember him as their scapegoat for running a warm light beer for presidency and then handing it to Bush anyway.

[–] dditty@lemm.ee 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

warm light beer

Are you saying Gore was a Bush Light? 🍺

[–] Ericthescruffy@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Even Lawrence O'Donnell has openly stated in at least one interview years after the fact that Ralph Nader was always a useful scapegoat to explain away the Democratic Parties own failures and ineptitude during Bush V. Gore and the 2000 election. Trying to find the clip but to paraphrase him: its rather sad and hilarious how the DNC spent months and months insisting and asserting that he wasn't a real candidate or a serious person they even needed to engage with or breath life into...until suddenly they needed someone who they could conveniently pin the whole thing on to avoid ever having to do any sort of self critique or analysis.

[–] newacctidk@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Does anyone have that clip from years ago of O'Donnell telling leftists that if they want change they need to be willing to not vote otherwise he wont be forced to concede to them?

sam seder is such a shitbag, pretending that "we all know" an anti-zionist couldn't win a presidential election

a majority of voters, both dem and republican, want an end to the genocide in gaza. fuckin liar.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

These fucking libs get so up their ass about the idea that anyone taking an anti-genocide stance in AMERICA is somehow a "principled leftist with lofty but admirable ideals". It is beyond their comprehension that Americans are not a fucking monolith, something they should fucking understand. These worm infected idiots can't come up with a single other reason why someone might look at the war in Ukraine and the Israeli Genocide and think "This needs to end!".

It is not like the media has been drip feeding the American population every single dollar total for every single war package being sent to both of these foreign lands. All while food prices continue to rise, while historic levels of credit card debt grow, while people are being crushed with medical debt, seeing their futures cast away on faulty dreams of student loan debt relief. They find it impossible to believe that a suburban white woman might see the destruction and deviation happening over the course of these last 10 months and wonder why it hasn't ended yet, despite all the money we send over there.

And yet, Americans. are. over it. Their nihilistic, self-serving, addled brains refuse to see reality. They believe that the people of Dearborn should shut up and vote, their families be damned. There undoubtedly is a large range of feelings on the nature of these conflicts, from "It's my money, give it to me." to "I need my family to stop being killed", and that spectrum of belief constitutes most Americans.

One of the fundamental category errors these turd Democrat voters make, and I include Sam Seder in this, is the blanket assumption that everybody to their left somehow owes the Democrats their vote because they're the only viable party that isn't the GOP. I hate it so much. I am not a Democrat. I fucking hate the Democrats and think all of the Democrats on the federal level should be tried in the Hague for aiding a genocide. How the fuck is Sam Fucking Seder going to try to argue that I should vote for people that I think should be hanged in the Hague???

It makes me so mad.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's infuriating, and in most cases, unless you live in a swing state, your vote doesn't count. It doesn't matter who I vote for, my state has been blue since the 90s, and by a wide margin. There is no doubt who is going to win in my state in November. We make up such an insignificant portion of the vote that we do not actually impact it in any way.

But you know what does impact the vote? Apathy. When people are apathetic about the process, they disengage from voting. You know who is seldomly apathetic about the process? Conservatives. Democrats, if they were interested in winning, would never lose an election against the current slate of conservatives. Part of that apathy comes from people like Sam telling the apathetic viewers in his audience that they need to "vote blue no matter who".

I always go back to the chapo interview on that lanyard podcast by establishment journalists. https://youtu.be/leDn52N1nr0?t=1430

Just barely holding back rage as these dipshits try asking one by one if they would vote for specific candidates.

I agree wholeheartedly. All the Democrats need to do is offer something OTHER than "republican but nice about it" policies. Completely abandoning the snide, condescending attitude when people balk at voting for the modern nazis party's polite wing would also go miles towards making non-affiliated people not hate democrats and their supporters, too.

I miss Michael Brooks

[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago (2 children)

75% of democrats and 60% of independents disapprove of Israel's war on Gaza. 65% of republicans approve. Why is Harris afraid to align herself with the vast majority of her voters, against the vast majority of the opposition, on this?

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

Because if she spoke out against zionism she might get Oswalded? Realistically her job is to uphold the status quo though.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Why is Harris afraid

I don't think US politicians support Isreal out of free. It's the "Washington Consensus" position. There's no daylight on foreign policy between these people. Most of they don't have opinions on these things - they hire people who tell them what the only "serious" positions are and then they parrot them

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's happening! I've been saying, there will be no second referendum and here it comes! The stone wall is being built before our eyes. Liberals only ever want to feel like they can return to their cozy brunch.

[–] iminsomuchpainv2@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

I've been on hate-watch mode with their show for a while but jeez it really has taken a dive. Sam is what he is, no surprises there, but Emma turned from saying "the genocide is the most important issue" to "Biden's out, time for brunch" so fast that her fucking neck broke and she is walking around with her head on backwards. Truly the ultimate liberal, the greatest disappointment, the most miserable replacement imaginable for Michael Brooks

[–] miz@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

let me guess before clicking: narcissistic navel-gazing that sanctifies voting as some sort of ritualized absolution for the sins of empire

[–] rootsbreadandmakka@hexbear.net 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hate Kamala Harris! I hate Kamala Harris!

We’ve got you surrounded! Come out and vote to save democracy!

[–] QuillcrestFalconer@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

I'm casting my vote for Biden because everything else is a vote for trump. I'm not even American

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

I like watching them even though they're libs. But they've been insufferablely lib over Kopmala that i figure I'll stop till after the election. I had to do the same thing whenever they've said anything about Ukraine.

[–] footfaults@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago

Yeah last week's episodes were incredibly frustrating. I only listen to them once in a while and it was about what I expected.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

They've been a pretty good and refreshing view/source on Gaza but you know that streak had to end eventually

On a positive note it's just a nice reminder to get news and commentary from multiple sources. Especially if you are looking for information on foreign policy and your source mostly does domestic. Or vice versa.

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I voted for Nader too but then i became a communist with correct takes

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Definitely a skill issue on Sam's part
