Either one of two things happens when I join Battle Royale:

  1. I die immediately, have to wait till end of round.
  2. I wander all over the map being bored not seeing a soul until I'm top 5 and then die.

Either way I'm bored - give me a good single player or battlefield style multiplayer.

Or Titanfall 2.

someone was showing me the titanfall 2 campaign this weekend and it was so good

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 17 points 4 months ago

Oh Titanfall 3, you would have been glorious….

[–] roux@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

You perfectly encapsulated my experience with Apex Legends lol. The only reason I really played was just to hang out with friends. I sucked bad at that game but they didn't mind.

I really want a Titanfall with the large player count, maps, and destruction of battlefield

straight up hope the new valve game gets scrapped . it drives me crazy how the people clearly yearn for a new arena shooter but the Market demands esports slop

The people yearn for a new arena shooter but when one comes out it promptly dies in 3 months tops.

splitgate comes to mind, I played for like 3 months then dipped forever lmao

I never really got into multiplayer online games, I enjoyed CoD with my friends on the 360 back in the day.

But ever since then I've just been chilling with grand strategy games like CK2 and Vicky or weird sim/roguelikes like Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld.

I hate interacting with gamers online.

The upside of this is that the games I enjoy never enter the "discourse" that gamers have, no one is screeching because they added a black woman texture to a rimworld pawn or w/e

I never got into it at all. Strategy games have been my mainstay for over a decade. All this multiplayer gamer culture confounds me.

[–] StalinIsMaiWaifu@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 4 months ago

Jealous that you did not see it, but pdx games absolutely get the gamer discorse. People were flipping shit when PDX announced CK3 wouldnt have "Deus Vult" in the crusade event. Also the perennial discussion of "why does Victoria/HoI not have a Genocide button"

The only multiplayer/fps game I ever enjoyed was classic tribes/tribes 2 back in the early 00s.

[–] absolutefuckinidiot@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 4 months ago

Tribes, Quake III, Unreal Tournament 2k4, we truly had it good back then

[–] Sickos@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

Tribes was awesome, and nothing has lived up to it since

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 10 points 4 months ago

Those were great!

I liked Quake III for about the same reasons.

The modern counterparts of both are still ql games.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 4 months ago

2018-2019 were really just like this.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 18 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Fucking tell me about it...

Not that I expected much of a story, but I was really upset to find out Light No Fire will be multiplayer only...

Id rather not have idiots jumping all over and trying to PvP or disrupt whatever I'm trying do for their own enjoyment... Content is content, I'm not content.

[–] axont@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago (2 children)

The only multiplayer games I've ever enjoyed were the early days of Ace of Spades and Tribes Ascend. Shazbot.

Everything else feels so shallow and repetitive for me to get into

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

sadness this opinion being so popular doesn't bode well for my upcoming shallow and repetitiveness simulator

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

Ah, base game Tribes Ascend before the comically unbalanced paid equipment released. It was a few good months.

[–] Gorb@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Nothing will hit the peak that was planetside 2 during the beta/early full release

[–] GeorgeZBush@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

That shit ruled. I was young but i remember one time I played where I traveled with this group as we took every outpost until we got to one of the main hubs, where we linked up with other groups and besieged the fuck out of it. My memories are hazy but I remember it felt like a legit military campaign lol.

Three way battles for the crown are some of my favorite mp gaming memories

I prefer playing online games I-was-saying (but only 1v1)

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 4 points 4 months ago

Just parry that mf, point to the ground, and go praise the sun.
