I fucking hate modern AAA gaming

EDIT:(I like Kojima. This is me poking fun at the industry in general and not saying Death Stranding sucks or anything like that. There is a character called Samantha America, how could I hate that?)

This is anti-Kojima rhetoric. I won't stand for it and neither will Die-Hardman

I was being harsh, I like Death Stranding, but there is a big part of me that still hates that it includes TV style product placement and real actors.

I do not like the blockbusterfication of games.

He’s been blockbustering games since the 90s. Now he just gets paid to hang out with his idols and watch movies. I envy him

Ok fiiiiine Kojima gets a pass

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

I'm sure he'd interpret it more like being the same thing as Stephen King directly referencing brands in his fiction

Yes and honestly it was a really good game. Partly because of all the weird shit like this in it

to be fair death stranding eventually replaced the monster energy cans with the in-universe 'Bridges Energy'

coincidentally i stopped drinking monster right around then lol, norman reedus got me hooked

Remember when Alan Wake had a bunch of in-game ads and billboards and shit?

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Growing up I always saw Alan Wake American Nightmare in thr bargain bin at walmart. I didn’t know anything about the game, I just determined it was dogshit because it looked stupid from the cover lol. But all these retrospective videos and the release of AW2 seems to suggest the franchise is indeed good.

I played Control, and apparently it's set in the same universe as the Alan Wake games, which I had never heard of until I googled WTF was up with the Control DLC that deeply confused me. It turns out, it's all references to Alan Wake. Which is why I was so confused. I should play them, I really enjoyed Control.

Death Stranding.

Yes! They patched it out of the directors cut, though. Personally I think much of the personality of the game was stripped away when we could no longer make Norman Reedus drink three full heart attack potions between each mission.

I forgive them in that case.

The canteen item's description in that game says it has a bunch of filters that turn water into Monster. I've always found that funny, like you stand in a river full of perfectly good water and your scifi thingie turns it into green bro-juice

[–] Gorb@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Wait. You didn't enjoy chugging down 10 cans of monster then making Reedus go do a poo and make poo grenades?

People say Kojima needed to be reigned in for death stranding but for me it was exactly the right amount of Kojima

I got that game free on epic but never installed it cause the size seemed large and also I had doubts of it even running on my potato.

[–] Gorb@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Its actually a pretty well optimised game although it really depends on your definition of potato.

[–] Red_sun_in_the_sky@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 months ago

Probably. But I got an old asus laptop with integrated graphics. It runs lot of stuff buy I don't try like aaa stuff. Also the game size is too large.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Give it a try, you'd be surprised what potatoes can run

[–] Red_sun_in_the_sky@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 months ago

I can try but its size is like 80 gig. That's a lot for me.
