None of the aid that has been unloaded from the temporary pier the US constructed off the coast of Gaza  has been delivered to the broader Palestinian population, as the US works with the UN and Israel to identify safe delivery routes inside the enclave, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

Several desperate Gazans intercepted trucks delivering aid from the pier over the weekend, leading the UN to suspend the delivery operations until the logistical challenges are resolved.

The US is working with Israel and the United Nations to establish “alternative routes” for the safe delivery of the 569 tons of aid transported to Gaza since last week, Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said on Tuesday.

Of course it wasn't. It would be against israel's plan to starve every non-jew to death.

I find that reading is conducive to understanding.

You should try it.

Wait this pier is completely worthless

Keep the crossings closed

Blame starving Palestinians for not being perfect victims

And no one was surprised.

as the US works with the UN and Israel to identify safe delivery routes

That's your problem right there: Israel and the vigilantes they tip off are the ones making every route unsafe for the UN and all other aid workers and the US government are threatening anyone who points it out.

Yeah bruh, maybe it was a fucking stupid idea to do this pier shit and instead we should have cut off all aid to Israel.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 20 points 5 months ago

Biden would rather lose the election than do that.

[–] damnthefilibuster@lemmy.world 15 points 5 months ago (2 children)

So wait, the people who need the aid, came to the trucks and asked for the aid / demanded the aid, so the UN checks notes suspended the aid?!!!?!

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah because the IOF bombed them.

Instead of Israeli Defence Force

We call them Israeli Offense Force

Because at this point it's not defence anymore. And it never has been. They've attacked everyone in Palestine ever since the colony of Israel was created.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had been reading it as Israeli Occupational Forces.

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

Ah well that could be it as well. Actually I think that's the correct one.

Fucking idiots spent time and money building something that does not need to exist while Israel steps over evey line Biden gave them. The US is basically just delaying so Isreal can continue with their final solution. Theres no way in hell any sane statesman could continue to give Israel the benefit of the doubt. After example after example, the choice to continue supporting this becomes the intentional and continuation of everything the Israeli state does.

Wow, I wonder who could be stopping Palestinians in Gaza from getting the aid...

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The only surprise here is that the pier hasn't already been "accidentally" targeted by Israel.

[–] AstridWipenaugh@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

There are Hamas tunnels under the pier!

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A US official told CNN that the Defense Department and UN are still working to determine how much aid can be held at he staging area inside Gaza at any given time.

The Pentagon said in April that the goal was to deliver roughly 500 tons of aid — amounting to 90 truckloads — per day to the starving population of Gaza, with the intent of working up to 150 trucks daily.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is continuing to have conversations with his Israeli counterpart regarding the effort to get aid through land crossings, including through Rafah, he said.

So water is still wet then?

[–] unreliable@discuss.tchncs.de -5 points 5 months ago

So it is unloading, and will take a while until the starving people get feed stop to steal.Thum they can deliver it to whatever target US/Israel was planning.
